Tuesday Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) Oculus Rift AMD Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.77GHz MSI Rx480 Gaming X 1303Mhz 16gb 2400 ram (can only get it to run at 1333 for some reason) The game was fine for me last night, but I unplugged the Rift so I could try the new flight models in fighters last night with my squad without getting motion sickness. Plugged and set everything up again today, and all works well until I try to launch a quick mission. It loads to the secondary screen before entering the map, but once I click 'start,' the game crashes. I verified the game files (no issues), and restarted the computer. I'm not sure what the issue is. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Cheers Edit: I'm not using the SteamVR beta. Edited August 30, 2017 by 19//Tuesday
dburne Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) Try restarting the Oculus Service. If you use the Oculus Tray Tool, you can do it from within there. If not navigate to your Oculus/Support/Oculus-Diagnostics folder, launch the OculusDebugTool.exe , click on the service tab, then restart Oculus Service. Probably a shot in the dark, but worth trying anyway. Edited August 30, 2017 by dburne
Tuesday Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Thanks dburne I had tried restarting it before, but not with the debugtool. When restarted with debug tool it nearly blew up my computer for some reason - and the crash continues. It made the hangar home screen extremely choppy. Very bizarre result!

Wow, that is very strange it certainly should not have done that... not sure what is going on there.
Tuesday Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) I think the issue was that SteamVR was and stayed open. I did not realize it at the time. I restarted both again in the proper order but it still did not solve the issue. Now will try re-installing BoS. Edit: I re-installed it, it worked for one single mission, but then it has crashed every time since. Edited August 30, 2017 by 19//Tuesday
sinned Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I have exactly the same issue. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one. 1
MAJ_Balapan Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I had my game crashing at launching the mission after I completely turned off new shadows in 2.12 graphic settings. Turned them back on to low and seems like it solved the problem for me. 1
Tuesday Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Thanks Balapan I'll try that out too when I'm back home later this week. A very frustrating bug! Will have to switch to unlimited bandwidth if I have to re-install the game everytime I want to fly a new sortie
Tuesday Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 I have exactly the same issue. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one. That makes two of us! Reported thus bug few days ago That's the best idea in this situation, thanks for the reminder.
TAAC_Blue Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Same thing happened to me last night. Once I loaded into the mission it would crash. My parents came over for dinner last night and my dad was convinced I made sure the game wouldn't work so he would hang out with us instead of flying in VR all night.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Thanks for this thread. Had exactly the same problem after I reduced shadows to 'off'. Reverted to medium, and the problem was solved. An odd glitch! 1

An odd glitch! Glad it worked/helped you; I myself haven't had a chance to get back into game since posting this so I'm glad to know it really works - thanks!!
Nibbio Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Bug fixed with the last update: Dear pilots, One week has passed and we decided to release the second hotfix for the big 2.012 update. This time it adresses the follwoing: 1. Aircraft shaking issue during a take off run at certain wind speeds has been fixed; 2. AI Mig-3 and Bf 110 G-2 now will take off properly; 3. Switching shadows completely off in VR mode won't crash the game anymore; 4. AI ships and submarines aim their torpedoes more accurately; 5. Pre-stall warning (buffeting sound) on Yak fighters happens earlier; 6. New ship models were corrected; 7. Hs 129 B-2 indicator lamps and fire sounds have been corrected. 1
