hi, all,

I played all of the awesome scripted campaigns (ivan's war, blazing steppe, the autumn, the fw190 ones), they are very well done.

After playing them 2-3 times each of them I was wondering if there's any way to change my plane from Yak (or fw190 or bf109 in respective campaigns) to something else? Just so there's a variety of experience... :)

just a humble request. :)

You can change your plane for the free scripted campaigns in the full mission editor if you can find the player's plane/flight on the map. Some missions are very complex and the map is heavily overloaded with objects. This can be a challenge. So, you must have the skill of work with the editor and change every mission in the campaign.

And I'm not sure that it will please the authors of the campaigns

thank you, Black Six.

It did occur to me that a mission editor might be involved yet I hoped for an easier way. :)

They don't, and Gambit and you made me understand why.

But f.i. in wind of fury i miss  that you cannot add a bomb ... them darn nazi Steam Locs won't blow up in Level 2 with just standard machine gun fire from a Tempest ...

i got some wagons alright, and really tried chasing an as set free run-away loc, scout's honor.

Guess i am not that good at strafing LoL. Tested a (home made) mission with an i16 with rockets; definitely better at killing trains all over.

Yeh, you are right, rockets better than machine guns in destroying trains.

Or use MiMec. It will allow you to find player plane with one python line and replace the model with another one.

Tempest squadrons began using bombs only in May 1945 and never used rockets in Europe. This is historical accuracy, not my whim.

It all comes down is ho historical you want to be. ... When BoP came out i really wanted to make some historically 'correct' mission stuff in my area. I gave up alas.

Essential roads, bridges, rivers & channels, whole towns are not correct, and most not even there.

Railways, harbors, and airfields missing etc, hence my interest in map editing.

I can see why a more 'complete' map that large is an impossibility (yet?).

FS2020 flies with the help of to google maps, but who else would be interested in old maps like us.

But this might be an idea; online storage of IL2 maps, maybe like TomTom, it downloads only the stuff you need for the 'day' if needed.

Some speedy internet access would be nice, probably for half of the players impossible due data and speed limits.

A better solution? If you buy a certain music making program, you can buy a yearly updated and by internet corrected now amount (1.7 TB)

of high quality live recorded audio sample stuff on an USB drive.

Put maps on it, and you can fly allover the globe even, and offline too ..

As for IL2 i see it more as a game with some historical touches. Making things far more realistic than just a fly-by shooter. But IMO.

Don't forget the great bonus, the ME. Yep, Oleg was a genius ...
