Hi all. The strange issue I had after the 2.011 update has persisted, even after updating to 2.012.

It's a strange one. The launcher seems to launch Il-2.exe, but no "window" or "full screen" display appears onscreen. I do get the icon in the task bar to show something is going on. Here's the screenie posted by Jehuti in the first thread.

I don't know what to do. This is what I've tried so far:

  • Modified the settings in the Launcher (turned off - and on - "seed when downloaded" and "fullscreen mode", as well as changing the screen resolution)
  • Uninstalled, reinstalled and uninstalled Geforce Experience
  • Stopped my MB sound app thingy (Realtek HD Audio Manager)
  • Updated my GPU driver
  • reinstalled the "redist" folder contents (DotNetFx-thingy and vc_redist-thingy)
  • Deleted my updates folder and allowed the launcher to redownload it all, etc.
  • Bought a blade of obsidian in order to sacrifice my firstborn to the Wrathful God of Simming (have to wait until the next full moon, apparently)
  • Tried to throw PC out of second storey window.

Here's a technical file of some type:

Here's the contents of my startup.cfg file in case there's someone who might understand such things. This is the actual file. the " " bits following login and password, etc, are really like that:

Dadgummit. A "simple" reinstall did the trick - after all that. (I've lost most of my custom missions/groups/bits and pieces in the reinstall process, annoyingly. I thought I'd backed it all up but I must have forgotten to "paste" after I'd copied. Ho hum.)

Suppose I'll have to dismantle that altar to the Capricious God of Simming now. Bummer. That black marble cost a fortune. Might be able to flog the blade of obsidian second-hand, though.
