One thing to keep in mind with custom skins and multiplayer: For a player to see your custom skin, they also need to have it downloaded (or more precisely, they need a skin of the same name in the given aircraft's skin folder... technically the content of the skin need not be the same). If a player does not have such a file, your plane will wear the default skin from their perspective,

One important consequence of this is that using a custom skin in winter means most people will see you wearing the default, non-winter camo.

I wish the game would automatically set a default winter camo in case a person doesnt have ur skin ...

So that everyone can see you on summer maps?

Exactly.

Rather than just "default" camo, it would be great if there was "default winter" and "default summer" camo show up for players who are not using custom-paintschemes.

Yeah that would be awesome. Or just tend towards gray defaults so they work decently in both places.

That would be very nice to have in Multiplayer!

I would rather have skins work like they used to in '46, with selectable layers for the base skin with camo etc, then decals for insignia and then squadron codes/serial numbers and nose/tail art. Allowing for a degree of customisation without the requirement for everyone to have the same skins installed.

I'm sure there's a reason we don't have that in game as it is though but I do miss it. Even though the way it was implemented in '46 was sometimes not ideal it added a lot.
