MiloMorai Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Very entertaining game. Rosters 3 Dort 1 but should have been 2. Kane 2, Son 1
curiousGamblerr Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) Rough start for BVB :/ If Freiburg hadn't injured our LB and the linesman wasn't freakin' BLIND maybe it would have gone differently... PS I expected UCL to use VAR but I guess not? Edited September 13, 2017 by 19//curiousGamblerr
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 No word on VAR just yet for the UCL. A few leagues are trialling it right now to see its viability in big name competitions. I assume some problems exist like where to install the equipment for teams with small, old stadia without spare rooms but a year or two could sort that out. 1
MiloMorai Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Why does it have to be at the stadium? The NHL has a Review HQ, https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/a-look-inside-the-nhls-video-review-headquarters/article534451/?ref=http://www.theglobeandmail.com& So does the NFL, https://www.si.com/2014/11/11/inside-the-nfls-replay-command-center
curiousGamblerr Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 That's true, Bundesliga's VAR team is offsite at a central location. Not sure if there is a need for additional cameras and stuff to be set up, wouldn't surprise me but idk.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Ah, that's a much better idea. I somehow thought those rooms were somewhere in the stadium
PatCartier Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 PSG vs Bayern next game > I remember this goal
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Not exactly CL related but CSKA is hosting last season's romance story Rostov today. After losing all their starters to bigger clubs, Rostov are still 5th, only five points away from leaders Zenit! It'll be streamed on YouTube, I'll drop a link once it's on for anyone interested.
Chief_Mouser Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 You blokes ought to get over here and watch FGR - Forest Green Rovers. https://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/ A village team that has made it into the Football League and weirdly, a totally vegan club. Mind you, the players have been caught tucking into 'normal' food when away from the ground . More or less veggie myself, so I don't mind, but I'm sure some of the away fans get a rude shock, or even a rude reply, when asking for a meat pie at half-time. The way that they are going I don't see them in the Champions League just yet, even when they get their all-new wooden stadium (yes, honestly) built. Proper football (i.e. fairly crap), not full of overpaid oafs. Cheers.
PatCartier Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Proper football (i.e. fairly crap), not full of overpaid oafs. For sure, but when they are not overpaid then their matches are so booooring.
Chief_Mouser Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 For sure, but when they are not overpaid then their matches are so booooring. Most football matches are boring, no matter who is playing. That's why I prefer the lower leagues, expectations of seeing a classic are much lower. So FGR is fine for me, 40 minutes up the road, a couple of pints beforehand and occasionally the pleasant surprise of a good game. I'll stick to watching the millionaires playing on the tv. Cheers.
DD_Arthur Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 1 - 1 away to Real Madrid. Can't complain http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/champions-league/table 1
curiousGamblerr Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 1 - 1 away to Real Madrid. Can't complain http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/champions-league/table That table makes me want to cry... have fun in knockout stage, we'll be down in the EL for sure
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Still 9 points to play for, friend. Anything is possible. Big game against Basel tomorrow... I'm a little worried but cautiously hopeful. That is the constant state of a CSKA supporter. 1
PatCartier Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Still 9 points to play for, friend. Anything is possible. With another goalkeeper for BvB !
MiloMorai Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 English teams appear to be doing quite well.
curiousGamblerr Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 With another goalkeeper for BvB ! ughhh yeah... i love him but it's getting hard to defend him over and over this season
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Basel 1-2 The Hype Train I'm over the moon!
MiloMorai Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Some great games this afternoon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/champions-league/table Ronaldo what a veeeerry long face you have > Spurs 3 - Real Madrid 1. Looks like Borussia Dortmund is out.
curiousGamblerr Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 ... Looks like Borussia Dortmund is out. Yupppppp.... I really hope we finish fourth and don't have to deal with Europa league. Nobody is going to give a crap about it after this dreadful UCL showing, and it will just distract and tire players for the league. Rought couple weeks for BVB, in all competitions besides Pokal.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Not sure Bayern is going to oblige in the next Pokal game though. CSKA's record has been tough too. A home drubbing from Basel preceded an encouraging draw against Zenit, followed by a defeat at the hands of Arsenal (Tula, not London). At least this week went well, but a visit to leaders Lokomotiv and a trip to Manchester soon won't be easy.
curiousGamblerr Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) Ugh yeah drawing Bayern at this time was such shitty luck. We really need a return to form this weekend. But, we also needed that last weekend... Ultimately, BVB was last place for a few weeks in the 14/15 season so I can't even complain. We'll be okay, but Bosz needs to let off the gas on the suicidal press. Our defense just isn't good enough, and our attack needs more space. I know it's a video game and taboo to mention because it's so removed from reality, but playing FIFA I use the exact opposite approach of BVB's current tactics- dropping back and taking advantage of our attack's pace with long balls and counter attacks. Of course, in FIFA you don't have the insane injury problems of the current team, which is another thing. Overall I miss Tuchel a bit but know I should calm down, buy some German beer, put on my jersey and enjoy supporting the team this weekend, regardless of the score line. 216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) FIFA is fun! I'm still on 17 trying to finish a CSKA career before moving on. 13 seasons in, managed to scrap two UCL titles with lucky 1-0 wins over Bayern then Man City. Tactics-wise I'm playing the same as we did last season which worked well enough. It felt good Not a good season for Dutch managers, it seems, but the BVB problem looks deeper than that. It's almost as if playing to tactics of four decades ago without having the squad for it is a bad idea! Edited November 2, 2017 by 216th_Lucas_From_Hell 1
MiloMorai Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 5 English teams make it to the Final 16. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2018/standings/#/ best game today: Liverpool 7 Spartak Moskva 0
curiousGamblerr Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 Welp. I guess I'll make a Europa league thread now
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 That makes us two. At least CSKA will be seeded though
DD_Arthur Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Europeless League? Oh no. Another five months of flying to the back of beyond to play Sporting Khengis on a Thursday night on the village green and the final will be a 120 minute bore-fest between two Portugese teams - settled by a penalty shootout . 1
PatCartier Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) Valdo-Weah-Bravo-Ginola vs Real 93 > my favorite goal for ever ? Edited February 14, 2018 by PatCartier
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 CSKA fell a bit short against Red Star, 0:0 in the first game. I think in Moscow we can settle it, but it won't be easy. I'm really looking forward to Real Madrid x PSG. Though the French have the hottest attacking trio in the world right now, Real Madrid in the Champions League feel unstoppable. Madrid haven't been eliminated before the semi-finals in something like 7 years, and in 3 of those seasons they the tournament. Paris might have talent but they lack this big game experience and mentality, both teams have equal chances of going through.
56RAF_Roblex Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) As rugby fan I literally find football uncomfortable to watch. If an alien came down and watched a professional game they would be baffled . They would think there is some sort of invisible forcefield inside the penalty box that gives defenders short range telekinetic powers to deal excruciating pain to whoever has the ball so that they fall to the ground writhing in agony without being touched. I swear that many players have no intention of attempting to kick a goal; their only aim is t to get as far as the box and dive for a penalty. Edited February 15, 2018 by 56RAF_Roblex
sallee Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I haven't watched a football match since May 1978. When I tell people this, they still talk to me about football. My God, it's boring. 1
DD_Arthur Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Thankyou for your positive contribution to this thread guys Rugby? Surely now the last refuge of the closet homosexual May 1978 sallee? Could it have been the FA Cup final? By a stroke of good fortune I seem to have found the whole match for you! What a great result too 1
sallee Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 The very one! And a great day for a Suffolk boy.
