Alexmarine Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Currently the La-5 in-game can already be converted to an F model by the engine and the different forward glass. From what I know the F model also introduced the new canopy design with both an armoured glass behind and in front of the pilot. Anyone knows the date/area of operation of it's first introduction or from which series it was available?
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 The F designation refers exclusively to the engine model, the first series equipped with the M-82F only replaced the engine. Aircraft with the new canopy reached the frontline around the summer of 1943.

Would an appearance of the new canopy possible in the Kuban theatre from what you know (historically speaking)? Just wanted to know
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 No idea on when they first came along to be fair, but they started becoming more readily available around July during the Kursk battles.
