I love my Gladiator...wish I went with the pro, but it's the best stick I've used for WWI/II stuff.

What is the difference between the gladiator mk2 and gladiator pro mk2?

PRO use VKB "Next Gen - all metal, ball bearings, CAM centered - gimbal. CAM and spring changeable.

- No twist rudder in Gladiator PRO.

Thank you for explaination.

I don't need twist. My X55 is failing after 3 years of service, but I need a joystick that goes along with Star Citizen as well. Has anyone tested VKB's Modern Combat Grip? I want to get either VKB's MCG or Virpil's T-50 Grip.

I am also looking for reviews on the Virpil stick, and its basework especially - whether it features the same sensors as VKB's. The progressive resistance towards the outer range of deflection of the stick is interesting.

VKB's upcoming MCG grip has not been produced as of yet.

I see.. well I'll probably be travelling to Moscow in December anyway. Chance to get the VPC Mongoose with its base. Are you happy with it? Do you use just the grip, or also the base?

Yes I am very  happy with it so far. I got the base, grip, mounting bracket and extension set.

I also have a new Gunfighter still in box, waiting on that MCG Pro grip to become available before trying it out. Surely it will be out before December.

I think either one would be a good choice, only thing with the VKB is if you need the buttons on the MCG grip going to have to wait a little bit. Hopefully not too much longer.

SO someone said they changed the gimbal system to nylon dry clutch?

In Germany the joystick is sold as Speedlink SL-650200-BK AIRROW by the way, sold via Amazon. It is a license built version and equal in gimbals/sensors to its pricey American counterpart. I think the sole exception is a potentiometer of lower quality (hearsay, no actual proof of lower quality), but because it has the same resolution for that twist-axis, I wonder what is meant by that. Read it from some random guy on the internet ;)

Scharfi uses one afaik.

Has the KG12, but users give it bad reviews because it just has so few buttons on top. WW2 style isn't favourites with ED/SC crowd ;)

Also a problem with the KG12 grip is people moving to VR and their need for a HOTAS stick with their headset.

Not sure how long it would take to develop a VR system that allows user to use virtual buttons and controls for their experience and subsequent tactile feedback.

Use potentiometer in twist axis don't don't reduce their resolution/precision per si, but will happen when the pot out trails wear out and generate spike, what can happen in 6 mouths, 1 year... depends on use, pot used there are the low cost possible models.

Besides the potentiometer in twist axis, the "European Gladiator" (Speedlink, Raven Core)  - imposed in that market by Asian Games, lack the same control quality of VKB cousins as well post  sales technical support and firmware/buttons profiles options.

But due lack of other option, is the option for Logitech/Saitek and Tm "entry level" sticks.. :)

Gladiator "few buttons" =  2 + POV plus 6 "virtual" buttons under pinky button (shift) don't differ much of Tm X stick or T.1600M, both 4 buttons + POV.

Very true.

These low end sticks are more like neo-consumer goods, use it, break it, put it into the bin.

The highly diversified premium hardware, such as offered by VKB, Baur, Virpil, and comrades, just suffer from a lack of market exposure. People simply don't know that these exist. There is a very large emerging market for high-end high-feature joystick systems, that VKB and Virpil could field well in, mostly overlapping with the StarCitizen community!

I have the older non-pro version of the Gladiator Stick. I was really impressed with it for 90usd. When the day comes that it needs replaced I will definitely buy another VKB stick. I probably have a good 600 hours on the stick. The hat still works fine but it doesn't have that crisp clicky feel it once had. I use it for trim and zoom view.

This is my first stick (not counting the garbage I had back in the 90's). I have used some of the super popular lower end sticks at a couple friends house... man they feel horrible in comparison!

Yes it was a big step from my Thrustmaster T Flightstick X Hotas to the european Gladiator version. I even was able to handle the FW190 with the old FM. I definitely wouldn't want to go back.
