=SqSq=GolfWhiskey Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Hi all, ive been looking into this all day and searched and searched but i cant find an answer. to bring all up to speed, i used to use facetracknoir for years despite how buggy it was i just fought through it, even up till this title ive used it. Facetracknoir has always recognized my games from war thunder(crap) to the arma series and of course il2. recently however it stopped working on il2 and it snowballed from there i couldn't get it to work with anything anymore so i downloaded open track and with out the ir that program is useless, sooooo ive gone and bought myself the trackir 5. and once again it works on my other games amazingly well i cant believe ive been depriving myself of the stability and precision all this time. but... i have an issue IL2 WILL NOT RECOGNIZE TRACKIR lol. and like ive said ive looked around cant find a fix for this. ive run both programs in admin mode and out of admin it works with warthunder but wont work with BOS im obviously missing something but am so lost on what. thanks for any help you can give best regards. just did a check for games list updates and i am up to date....
KaC_Richard_Rogers Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I had this issue previously in Rise of Flight. My user account is a "domain user" and not a domain administrator (same principle as Local user/local administrator). Funny side story this only happened after an OS rebuild and had on previous OS builds and on all OS builds since ran correctly under the domain user account. For me the solution was to run both the game and the TrackIR software (started first) as administrator by right clicking and then selecting 'run as administrator' and putting in the elevated account credentials. When you talk of "ive run both programs in admin mode" does that follow my 'run as administrator' or did you do it through compatibility mode or log on as an administrator? If you are referring to making your log on account an administrator then this will still require you to right click and selecting 'run as administrator' to get the full elevated privileges as Windows 7 and onwards were designed this way as to minimise malicious software taking advantage of a user using an administrator account for day to day use.
=SqSq=GolfWhiskey Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 I am running as the computers admin, so what I've tried up till now is right clicking and opening all programs as admin (steam, trackir, I even created a shortcut to BOS through the game files to bypass steam and that didn't do the trick) I think i understand what you mean about local user vs admin user though ill make a separate account and try to open these as admin again though im not sure about the elevated credentials part, unfortunately im running on win 10 though not sure how much of a difference that will make(didn't have a choice windows switched me to ten and I couldn't revert the changes)
=SqSq=GolfWhiskey Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 well i hate to say it but that did not work, ran programs as admin through a non admin account and nothing
KaC_Richard_Rogers Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Next step would be to be to un-install/re-install the TrackIR software which can be downloaded from https://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/downloads/ Latest version is 5.4.2 Posted 2016-04-13
dburne Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I know you said you did this but make sure your games list is updated as well.
=SqSq=GolfWhiskey Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 i have resolved the issue. unsure of the exact issue but i uninstalled and deleted the game files from my pc redownloaded everything and reinstalled. works like a charm now
