Hi All,

Hoping a few of you have the track hat (baseball hat model) and can chip in.

I bought it and have set it up at my computer desk. The ps3 eye is about level with my head and only a 2-3 ft away. I've got it set up so that no other lights are interfering with it. After playing around with the settings, I seem to have a couple of problems when it comes to actually using it in-game.

It's like it becomes disoriented sometimes, and suddenly the input becomes inverted for no reason. (look left becomes look right, etc...)

Another thing that occasionally happens is it does not return to center when looking around. I will look around and when I look forwards again, its like my head is tilted and off center.

I've set up a "center view" key that fixes the second one, but it does not fix the inverted problem. Occasionally when the view becomes inverted, it fixes itself after a few minutes, other times I have to exit the mission I'm in to fix it.

-Side note: When playing with the settings, there is also a red x in addition to the three green x's represented by the LED's. Anyone know what the red x is? It doesn't seem to be affected by any settings changes.

The red "X" represents your head pivot point, it's determined when you run the calibration. In the camera settings do you have "Dynamic Pose Resolution" checked ?

Salutations,

I suggest, if you haven't done so already, contacting their support section. Mine quit working all together. :(

Ah ok. The red x was way off of center. I centered it in between the green x's. TBH, doesn't seem to have done much.

I have tried dynamic pose resolution checked and unchecked. Not much of a difference in performance...

Dynamic pose resolution should be checked when using a hat-tracker. Also, I assume, when using a hat-tracker the red x should be below the center green x, approximately near your upper lip. Is it possible for you to make a short vid showing what is happening? What pixel sizes are being shown for the green x's?

I adjusted the red x to be roughly on my upper lip like you mentioned, and it seemed to be much more stable this time around.

I just flew around on the WOL server for an hour with no camera hiccups or shenanigans. Here's hoping that was the problem and that its solved now.

Thanks for the help!

Glad you got it sorted out. If anything else pops-up let us know.

Not sure if you've had this problem or if this might help, but I used to use a ps3 eye camera and it would occasionally confuse itself or cut off at the far edges of tracking as the field of view wasn't wide enough, being a webcam.

I managed to sort it out by moving the camera and mounting it well behind the screen on a shelf. It felt like it looked too distant but worked much better.

Not too sure what a "track hat" is, but while using my Track IR 5, I had an intermittent problem with the symptoms you described...

It turned out to be my watch that was reflecting light into the Tracker unit.

Or at least that was one of the problem. There is usually more than one and they usually show up at the worst moment :)

Ok thanks for explaining.

That's the set up I use, so my point about the watch may be relevant.

Another issue I am having that seems to only happen in IL2 BOX is when I'm pulling high G and suddenly have my view point move well under the gun sight...I reason this to be built in to IL2 BOX as a way to simulate being squashed into your eat under G. Anyone know if there is anything in this?

This seem to be more pronounced as I have some dead zone set up in my Track IR software, which makes it somewhat unrealistic. I really need to do some experimentation with this.
