Default gradual view a possibility?

One thing that's been slowly annoying me is having to F9 through all the view types just to get to gradual view, each time I load into a game. And should I forget...oh boy! Big surprise when I go to tap a direction to track someone and it moves all, but 2 millimeter, instead of snapping up to where I'm thinking it's going to take me, then frantically fumbling the F9 key and ultimately passing the view I want, while the 109 maneuvers behind me just in time for me to find Gradual View(ha!).

Even just retrying a campaign you have to reset the view.

Now, I will point out that someone mentioned the snap.cfg file, and, well, I either don't know the right command or it's not working.

DefaultSnapMode = "PV" is the default and one could only imagine this means "Pan View..." In keeping with that logic one would think that FV would be "Fixed View," CV would be "Center View," and GV would be "Gradual View..." but alas! It's not...GV does not work.

This is one of those things that should just have a simple switch, checkbox, or dropdown box...in-game. And why the heck did they separate the flap functions? I loved sparing a button to have flaps combined to one toggle function.

In the Camera options om the top left it says "Default Camera Mode" or something along those lines if I remember right. That's what you're looking for.

Whu?!

Where have flaps ever been a toggle?! I've never in my life encountered an aircraft with toggle flaps... Binary flaps are uncommon enough already...

I think in Lock On/DCS Flaming Cliffs aircraft, specifically those with binary flaps (F-15, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29) toggle flaps have been a thing since 2003.

I haven't touched DCS in a bit, but from my recollection, those have up and down options as well.

There's a keybinding I use in CoD for Toggle Flaps(up/ down)

Ah thank you I will check that out.

I don't understand the first part about views (I have track IR) but regarding flaps, many aircraft have gradual flap extension that wouldn't work on toggle.

I'll have to look into TrackIR, for the longest time I was under the impression it was only for VR. I still don't understand how it works without VR, only because you don't have to move your head when staring at a monitor/ TV. Otherwise, what I'm referring to is the Default Pan View mode, vs, the other presets you can cycle through by tapping F9 several times. Just so happen the view mode I prefer is among the last to cycle through.

TrackIR magnifies your head movement. So for example when you look 30d to the right, on your monitor you're looking 180d behind. Besides allowing you to turn your view, it gives you six degrees of motion enabling you to look around obstructions like canopy frames etc. It's honestly the best thing that happened to flight sims since the joystick.

But even in CloD "toggle" flaps don't work for all planes, Bf 109 for example need separated keys for incremental up and down.

Toggle result awkward for Hurricane because this plane has neutral in flaps lever, start in Neutral, then Down, Up, Neutral again, so flapes became move down, then move up for finally stop, difficult set, for example 30 degrees for take off.

Anyway that game offer both options, toggle and lower and raise in separated keys/buttons. "Greek and Trojan" pleased.  :)

Here some planes have progressive flaps, e.g. in LaGG3, Bf 109... and other "on/off" flaps in IL-2(?), Spitfire... for these toggle is OK, but for the former no.

For reduce the number of keys used only one option is allowed, and since "toggle" don't cover all planes, this option is not available, as flap up and flap down keys work for incremental and "on/off" flaps.

When you start deal with radiator/cowl shutters options will find this way more "complicated" than flapes operation.

Think for this "Gradual View" you need use mouse, or TrackIR... the 3 options with POV HAT is well explained in Requiem video.
