Black_Sab and Panthercules: You were right on the money. Thanks so much for that Oculus Tray Tool hint that allows me to disable this ASW thing (which also solved the blurry prop disc, I can finally aim properly:D).

 

I now get around 70-90 fps with the occasional short dip to 40. It's much MUCH better on my head now. I think this is now at a level where I can spend more time and finally get accustomed.

Good to hear you had it sorted out.

 

90 FPS is the ideal but few rigs can maintain it all the time.

 

I have a 4790K at 4.6 Ghz with a GTX1070. RAM is currently 1600 Mhz (upgrading now to 2666 Mhz as it appears RAM frequency matters much for BOX VR)

 

With graphics preset on Balanced, AA off, landscape on 2x and SteamVR SS at 1.9 I can mostly maintain 90 FPS, but ASW still kicks in sometimes when I am taking off from a crowded airfield or get into a furball.
