mikeglaz Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I don't know why, but whenever I try to come to a complete stop my aircraft spins out. I apply brakes and even then it still spins out. Any ideas?
216th_Jordan Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Hello, this has been discussed numerous times already, here is a thread from the last days about the problem in a spitfire but the info given there applys to almost all planes: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/30561-spitfire-ground-loop/
Thad Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I've noticed such loops with AI craft in my missions also.
LLv24_SukkaVR Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I had same the problem as well but now i rarely spin with Spitfire. I pull the stick back, apply brakes and carefully use the rudder.
myfingid Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) Not sure if this is the correct solution, used to work for me in RoF; add a little throttle. What I remember back in the old WWI sim was something about airflow being needed to keep the plane stable on the ground or you'd end up looping with most planes. Pull back on the stick to force the tail down, add a little throttle to keep airflow on the tail surfaces, apply brake and use the rudder to stabilize. Landings take more distance, but if you're doing it right you shouldn't be flying off the end of the runway. I rarely do it right because I come in way too hot. I'll try to force the landing at speed and end up bouncing back up. Gotta go slow and steady. Also remember the engines take a bit to spool up so you can't just increase throttle as you're losing it, you have to have it on the whole time. Only takes maybe 10% or so, just enough to keep the tail dug down. As you start to come to a stop you can let off the throttle. It's certainly easier to do with brakes! Used to be you'd just keep going and try not to run into anything while you slowed down. Edited August 23, 2017 by myfingid
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Once I'm on the ground I keep the throttle at 5-10% and alternate my breaks until I've come to a stop. That works for most planes, even after I prop strike
Guest deleted@50488 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 More nice landings and rudder dances :-)
