Salutations fellow mission builders,

I am nearing completion of a tank mission. Basically, the player is a panzer company commander tasked with attacking and capturing a reported fuel depot.

I plan to have the mission objective a success if the player gets enough of his units into the fuel depot area. But as a twist, I want there to be a possibility of the enemy blowing up the depot. Big Boom or two preferable.

I have found information about using the Random Switch and the Damage or Repair of Objects in the editor manual but I have not found a specific method of having an object simply go BOOM and be destroyed when desired.

Firstly, is this possible? If so, how.

Thanks in advance. :salute:

I don't think there's a trigger - huge explosion :(

This is functionality that would be useful.

In the old days I would hide a Mistel in a target area and BOOM!! Mushroom cloud.

Thanks... that sounds like it will server my needs well. :salute:

I was going to suggest spawning a bomber full of bombs a inside another object, maybe a few feet off the ground.

I've been meaning to try that to see what it produces. I have a few missions planned where a triggered explosion is needed. Glad to learn of the above workflow - going to try the bomber to for grins.

I can confirm what Tx_Tip said works perfectly. I can't believe that was a year ago almost to the day

You could also start the City Smoke and or village smoke effect after the "explosion" to add for cinematic effect. :)

I have the visual effect I desired... but there is no sound. No BOOMs.

Any suggestions?

Get an mp3 of an explosion and see "Play an Audio Track with the Media Translator" on pg. 155 of the editor manual.

Use a .wav for the source preferably though. Mp3 quality is not good.

The media translator (and the animation operator translator) only accept mp3 files for audio. Did you find a way to use wav files?

huh I swear .wav worked when I tested it.

I downloaded twp bomb blast .mp3 files. Added them to my latest mission. Works fine. :salute:
