216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Not exactly a close-up but you can see by the short run that Han applied brakes generously and short rudder inputs to keep it straight.
indiaciki Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Tanks, Lucas. Seen that. I can't see rudder or break used. Did you have any problems after touch down? Grownd loops?
JimTM Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 (edited) Here's an approach and landing that I did. I was a bit late in getting the stick right back after landing, but it didn't affect the roll-out. Note the short, sharp rudder and brake inputs. Please excuse the slight jitter on my zoom axis and the fact that I left the video interface showing (what a movie noob) For a great essay on how to fly taildraggers, see here (part 1), here (part 2), and here (part 3). indiaciki Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Thanks Jim, It seems to have to do with appying breaks ! Nice landing.
JimTM Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 (edited) Thanks Jim, It seems to have to do with appying breaks ! Nice landing. Thanks. For the first part of the rollout, the rudder is still effective, so I'm applying short stabs of rudder as soon as the plane veers left or right. Then, as the rudder loses effectiveness, I'm applying short stabs of brake along with short stabs of rudder to direct the braking action left or right as soon as the plane veers left or right. I applied a bit more positive braking action right near the end, when the plane was slowed down. Edited August 15, 2017 by JimTM
