Mmaruda Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 So I have been itching for some air combat shenanigans for a few days now, but I am clearly suffering from some serious sabotage. It's been pouring heat from the sky for the past few days and my apartment used to be an attic, so guess what? It's currently 9 pm here and the temperature is dead set at about 30 degrees C with 3 huge fans running and all windows open to a huge "no joy". Launching any game that requires even the slightest power from my PC turns the old gaming box into a fire breathing oven. I mean, I know that weather does affect real world flying significantly, but this is ridonkeyulous. Anyone else grounded due to them inhuman heatwaves?
Jaws2002 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 (edited) Had that problem when i used to live in Toronto, in an apartment. Once the building got hot the window mounted AC couldn't keep up. Now, I have good central AC in the house and I placed my gaming box next to one of the AC vents in this room. The box stays cool at all times. Summers get pretty hot and humid, even in Canada. BeastyBaiter Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Air conditioning is a wonderful invention, couldn't live in Houston without it. Current outside temp: 28C with 50% humidity at 9am. Expected high: 36C with scattered rain showers.
Feathered_IV Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Happens to me too, being in a north facing apartment during Australian summers. Often I'll spend weeks without daring to run anything more demanding than Doom 2.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Lived right by the equator in the western wastelands of Brazil once. 32-38 degrees all day, 70% humidity. I had a processor burn out playing the old 4.08 Il-2 unmodded.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Portable Aircon with hose going out window and entire room will be 22*C (so cpu's idling @ 25*C on good cooling Loops :D :D)They only about $500AU
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I used a regular table top fan blowing straight into the CPU, with the lid open.
