does your bomb sight become disable if game considered you being shot down?

Or its just my bomb sight that got shot ?

 

because i was doing a bombing run and i got hit, caught on fire and lost my vertical Stab. but i was still alive and still manage to do a level flight. However the game considered me as being shot down. and then after that happen the bomb sight reset everything(it's like when you don't put any correction value). i kinda wish they don't do this though cause it prevent some epic heroic last minute bombing while on fire

I don't know the answer, but did you consider the possibility, that the bomb sight was hit and destroyed, when you to damage?
