Battles of Khaikhin Gol

There is a forgotten battle for you all.  Some people have been praising the fun of flying the I-16 and so I did some checking.

 

Seems 777 could come out with 'Battles of Khaikhin Gol'.   In the battles of Khalkhin Gol, I-16 was used against Ki-27 IJA fighters.  Who knows, maybe 777 could attract a whole new audience from China.  I here they have a lot of people over there.

This has been debated before. It's propably not gonna happen anytime soon though. I really would like for the Great Patriotic War to be more fleshed out in this sim before moving on, but then other less-known theatres like Khalkin Gol etc sounds interesting.

 

BTW: I don't really see, why a Khalkin Gol scenario would atract a chinese audience. Apart from the location, what's the appeal?

yep, personally i REALLY want see this battle, like and just theatre of china including flying tigers etc, BUT... exactly about Nomongan incident...

 

if USSR really have different types like i-15 (meats for opponent), i-153 (adequate opponent) and several types of i-16 (mainly, it's will be like fw 190 a-4 vs yaks-1/7/9), and what very good for 16s lovers, with different engines and weapon (with shkas, early models of shvak, rockets)... although, just remember what i-16 was VERY restive fighter in handling/firing, shkas it's not laser without overheat, and could be serious problems with documentation for these VERY early types... well, plus early SBs, r-5, tb-3 and what i forgot...

 

for japan it's ONLY ki-27, very lightweight and, by my opinion, in total very specific fighter with only 2 guns and maybe several light bombs, although, 1CGS can do and a5m, ki-10 etc, but it's ALL...

 

how much ki-27 addicts here or in world? 

 

moreover, sometimes fought 400+ planes what too much for our PC, like and on land were LOT of peoples, horses etc... it's need to be doing, no ways...

 

much better if 1CGS will doing just really EAST theatre starting from soviet volunteers in china (almost indentical types like early i-15/i-16, i-16 with US engine and guns, a5m etc plus several not-russian types, right?) and with NI'39 go to next episodes like "flying tigers" and just all japanese-chinese war with ki-27/43/44 etc etc etc, different planes of almost all sides, sometimes, not really serial...

 

well, you know this nice stuff and interesting period...

 

but this is fundamental decision, EF in Еurope or Pacific with ending, btw, by soviet blitzkrieg in 1945 exactly in manchuria - yak-9/9m, la-5fn, la-7, p-63, il-2/10 etc including very early types like i-16 versus my love j2m raiden, ki-84, ki-46, ki-61 etc (this info mainly based on LAST researches of real victories of soviet pilots in this battle) - ie very promising addon, plus here have chance for carriers, b-29 etc like even Korea...

 

but here too much very late, different series, types etc...

 

and looks like we see choice at this moment, it's BOS still without many types like yak-7b/IAR/Emils, and what next i'm not sure...

 

here try to remember, for example, about "forgotten" war on north of russia (Golodnikov, Safonov, Mueller, i-16s, hurris, 40s, many 39s etc versus JG5 etc with E, F, G-2/6 and FWs etc), although, theatre have and good + AND serious - like very different types, specific conditions of war etc if i'm not mistaken...

 

so, most likely we seen in future battle of Velikiye Luki or Kuban (by my opinion, although have g-2/g-4, FWs vs. la-5/la-5f of late series, yak-1b, yak-7b, yak-9, p-39, some p-40 and a bit of old spits-5, Kuban will be a bit boring, VL just almost BOS with details from Kuban)...

 

Leningrad? TOO big and detailed landscape, lot of ground and sea units, and can't remember any mass virtual wars at this map in il-2, but it's could be just ideal (my opinion at this moment)...

 

Who knows, maybe 777 could attract a whole new audience from China.  I here they have a lot of people over there.

i think like you, but it's only thinking, and personally i'm not businessman or china-expert, i know only what in our neighbor lives LOT of potential players...

 

 

PS btw, very good and interesting information by N.Egorov - in early BOS really were used i-16 type 5/10, sometimes fieldmodded ie with rockets for attack of ground targets (it's famous information, but here confirmation plus several details)...

 

so, looks like we easily could get and i-16, and very early types for MANY possible theaters like Spain, Nomongan, Winter war, etc etc etc... and it's great, i think...

I like the Khalkin Gol scenario and would like to see it. But since its fighting between Japan and Russia im pretty sure it won't attract the Chinese. .. a Sino-Japanese theatre would be better for that I suspect.
