Il2 BOS Benchmark old Phenom x4 vs Core i7 4770

Recommended Posts

I just put together my old PC with Phenom II 925 x4 3,3ghz oc and just for fun test it against my current rig with i7 4770,i use same GPU which is GTX 1050Ti and same ddr3 Ram

The results are hardly surprising, difference is huge...time to upgrade if you have old AMD or FX CPU or anything older than Intel Sandy bridge...

Applies to Phenom x2,x4's Yes (much older and lower spec)

Not so much FX series (8350,8370)
4.0ghz or 4.5ghz same FPS ingame with FX8350 running GTX1060
@ 110fps hud off, 75 fps hud on (ALL Graphics options maxed out @ 1080P)

IL2 Barely touches the FX8350 cores (about 15-25% usage over four cores pretty evenly)

anyways it Obliterates my brothers i5 4670K - thats all i care about family rivalry

I cant confirm that FX is definitely better CPU than Phenom but i used to have FX 8300 oc to 4,5ghz and in games like Arma 3 or DCS it was horrible when i upgraded to core i5 3570 @4ghz i have much higher FPS,core i5 4670K is clearly much better gaming cpu than any FX especially for games like BOS ,Arma or DCS.

Yeah mate, FX8300 was a low 95 Watt piece of crud anyways (FX8350 a better 125 watts)
Also Maybe had a very bad AM3 Motherboard as most only PCI-E 2.0!!

8uG8ZWF.gif

Even in cinebench FX8350 blows away i5 4670K (by about 1 minute) @ Stock clocks.
None of the benchmark sites doe any i5 pass a FX8350 @ stock clocks. (not untill you reach well over 4ghz and HOT!)

Even then on same Liquid cooler
FX8350 OC to Only 4.6Ghz (45*C Max Load - 25*C Idle)
i5 4670K OC to Only 4.0 Ghz (65*C Max Load - 40*C Idle)

Anyways it all meaningless anyways as IL2 barely touches the CPU even in multiplayer never uses much more than 25% on 4 cores.. At 4.0 Ghz or 4.6Ghz IL2 is the same frames as niether using that CPU power.

Now only Game/Sim on market i know of that will max out the cpu are (PRepare3d/FSX & Xplane Series)
- but these can bring a 5Ghz i7 4770K to its knees due to massive amount of AI and Xplanes "Every Molecule Air Simulation" used in blade theory Based flight models for X-planes.

You are clearly very confused about your HW...(-:

8300 and 8350 is exactly the same cpu 95w and 125 is just TDP,if you OC 8300 to 8350 speed then it is the same CPU

ALL! AM3+ motherboards have only PCI-E 2.0 because even 990FX is 7 years old chipset, but there is no difference in performance between PCIE 2.0 and PCIE 3.0 so its nonsense anyway.

i5 is definitely not hotter than FX

FX8350 is slower than old i5 2500k in games,i5 4690K is much faster, they are test everywhere, and at last you cant watch CPU utilization, that means nothing in gaming performance, your 8 core FX is less utilized but it generate much lover frame rates in CPU heavy games like IL2 BOS or ARMA 3 etc because it have much weaker cores compared to even old i5 2500k,and there is big difference between those two CPUs in il2 BOS. So your GTX1060 is definitely bottlenecked by your FX.

NO GTX1060 is not bottlenecked by FX8350
(only PCI-e 2.0 on most AM3 Motherboards is the bottleneck even then most pci-e 3.0 board for intel still only running 2.0 controllers)

The GPU dont even reach 50% usage in IL2 and other games where it is maxed out and the CPU is never maxed out.(25% max 4 cores).

Only program/sim i have that can max my cpu is Xplane 10 (other than benchmark programs)
- Hence why there is no need overclocking the CPU for IL2 and i infect turned it back down to 4.0ghz as i still need 1-2 years out of this cpu.
(4.0ghz working temps only 28*C on all cores so will live/last longer than 4.5Ghz @ 35*C)
4.0ghz - All Settings Ultra @ 1080P (100fps)
4.5Ghz - All Settings Ultra @ 1080P (100fps)

No Bottlenecks here. (only idling in Multiplayer hangar but still a Wopping 5% CPU Used & Idling @ 23*C (4.0ghz)
MsxZ6TE.png

GPU Loaded 67%
CPU Loaded 5%

Very much no Bottleneck or CPU would be loaded 99% and gpu would be down to 45-50% or something.

LOL...Fx is no bottleneck for GTX1060 in the MENU OF THE GAME,thats for sure(((-;...If i where you i will downclocked that FX even more, because clearly your FX have so much power on 4ghz that even on 2ghz it will be amazingly fast, and temperatures will probably drop to 15c which is below ambient temperature so its physically impossible, but HEY this is FX CPU so you can bend the physics laws,right?...but best thing about that is that on 2ghz the FX last you even longer, so you can used this CPU for another 20 years...
