kAh00t Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/tflight-hotas-x Hey folks, new to the game, was super excited to get this set up with the flight stick above, managed to assign some buttons but can't for the life of me get the pitch working with the stick. Cards on the table I am relatively new at flight sims, but the issues I am finding feel like this stick just isn't compatible with the game? I find that super odd as it works perfectly with elite dangerous/Star citizen (I am aware these aren't flight sims but they are the only similar aged games I can draw a comparison to). So my question is, is my attempts to get this to work in vein? has someone tried this stick before with any success? Any help would be great thanks, may have just wasted £40 but that would entirely be my fault haha ty David
Hoss Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 It should work with no problems, did you check windows to see if the axis works?................... did Roll axis work?............ I believe it's a twist stick for yaw too isn't it?............. did that axis work?.............. Some times you have to hit the "x" that's in the axis box to clear it and make it work. I had the same problem with L brake axis. The one thing I hate about settings on this game is if you unplug the stick or throttle it changes it from controller 1, or 2 to 3 or 4, found out how to fix that in IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow/data/input/devices.txt Just went in there and deleted the numbers that no longer applied and renumbered the device I was using to 1 instead of 4.. Hope you figure it out, there are some video's on how to assign axis on youtube, take a look and see if they help, also on youtube input your controller i.e. Thrustmaster "X" setup in IL2 Battle of Stalingrad... and see what you find. Cheers Hoss
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Keep trying, David. I've used it for a year with BoS and it worked fine. Do you have additional peripherals that could be interfering? Is the switch on the base of it set to PC and not PlayStation? If all else fails, set up the axis yourself in the settings. 1
kAh00t Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 Folks, thanks so much for the reply, seems to be a good community as I was having a read on other post and everyone seems so helpful. Was half expecting the reply to be "Google it" haha (which I have done, but it is seemingly a very niche game). Just knowing that its possible to get it working means I can look at other areas of my PC like you suggested Hoss/Lucas, I did pull out an X360 controller hoping it would but but alas no joy! I can assign buttons easy enough by the looks of it, guns etc, so its really just pitch and yaw that are causing me difficulty, just tested the stick out on elite dangerous with no issues so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue at least. I will report back once I mess around with this tonight, I am now super excited to get this work :D I'll be seeing you all on the battlefield soon. David
xvii-Dietrich Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 So my question is, is my attempts to get this to work in vein? has someone tried this stick before with any success? I've used the T.Flight Hotas X in the past... it worked fine for me. Some tips. 1) On the unit there is a PC/PS3 switch. Make sure it is on PC. 2) There are some "map" buttons on the right-hand side of the unit. Something like "mapping" and "preset", if I recall correctly. I can't remember which combination of these I used, but if you press them you can get different mappings (shown by different combinations of the LED indicator light), some of which don't work with IL-2.
Sokol1 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Some users has problem for use this joystick in BoS, may their solutions help: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/29724-tm-t-flight-hotas-x-not-being-recognised/?hl=%2Bhotas+%2Bproblem&do=findComment&comment=481744
Yogiflight Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 As it is only pitch and yaw, do you have a second controller connected? When I fly with my yoke system, I have to delete the pitch and yaw settings of the yoke afterwards, because if I don't delete them, my stick inputs for pitch and yaw are not recognized by the game.
