I just purchased a Oculus Rift. i have everything turned down. game works beautifully till i leave the ground. as soon as i hit the air, the game screen freezes. the sounds keep playing but then the oculus shuts down. I can drive around all day on the ground, just cant get into the air. Can someone please help me. Il2 is such amazing vr experience, but being stuck to the ground is making me go nuts.

my specs are

4770k i7

16gb ram

780ti evga card

Is this a joke trolling thread?
Im not being rude or anything but are you really trying to run vr on 780ti
Min Supported System specs for VR is GTX1060 (according to nvidia) - But even that will struggle with only 6GB Vram @ 4K resolution which is what VR is with SS 1.4 or watever.

GTX 780Ti is barely enough for this game anymore in 2d mode (specially with Nvidias Driver problems)
Let alone running VR it does not even have enough Vram

Also what you describe makes no sense as most AF in this game much lower FPS and much higher resource usage on the ground.

Well my card runs all other vr just fine, and sorry if you think I am trolling, but like I said, I have no issue taxiing at all, but as soon as I am in the air or air start it freezes and crashes the game. I am going to upgrade my card, just can't right now.

yeah nah thats ok :D

Good that you even got it running on that card. (as for other VR like War thunder is not comparison as much lower Graphics effects and so on)
But im sure if you turn on something like MSI afterburner you will see you are running out of Vram.

Make sure terrain details set to normal (not x1 or higher)
Make sure mirrors are off.
Make sure no anti aliasing and in steamvr or whereever set video card power option to max performance not optimal power.

But problem is Vram @ the resolutions VR is pushing will use lots of vram more than 780ti has.
it will try to use system ram in its place (stutters) and when this fails to happen fast enough it will crash

Also you could try a very low detail Terrain.cfg to free up more Vram
