Herne Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Assuming that after a hard day at the office, you sometimes like to unwind with a few sorties on IL2, which servers do you play on ? If we saw your names in game would we recognize you, or do you tend to use alternative accounts ?
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I doubt they do much flying outside of work.
Jade_Monkey Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 They used other names, as Jason (iirc) once mentioned somewhere.
Herne Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 I doubt they do much flying outside of work. I'm not so sure, hard to believe anyone would choose to work on Flight Sims, for the money. I reckon some of them at least love em just as much as we do How could they put so much love into this beautiful game and then not play it
Y29.Layin_Scunion Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 This is the only mention I've heard of them playing online. I'm sure they do here and there when they can.
ITAF_Rani Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Could be nice if a Devs flying team exist online to fight against/with them !!
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I think Han does his fighting with a broadsword, not a joystick. 2
MadisonV44 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 By the way, online testing with overloaded / crowded servers should not be an option. Net code is one of the key for the gameplay !
F/JG300_Gruber Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Pretty sure they do fly out of work sometimes. But using other names is pretty much an obligation, be it at or outside work. Just imagine that one evening you see in the chat "1CGS_Han connected", the very next second you can expect a constant flow of "when X feature will be ready ?", "are you planing to fix Y issue ?" and other product related questions. Not from all players, but some people are just unable to hold themselves.
Chief_Mouser Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 The RoF devs used to fly regularly. Been shot down before I knew what was happening by Fokker Tripes flown by them. Cheers.
Feathered_IV Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 It's a good idea if the developers try to fly regularly. It's important to get a consumer-view of how it handles with regards to gameplay and as a piece of entertainment software, not just at a programming and testing level.
MadisonV44 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Agree with you Feathered. This is an interesting way to reconciliate data and fly experience in the sim
19//Moach Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) as a game dev. myself (not affiliated with these guys, though) I can attest to the truly humbling experience that it is, when one is generously owned and has his ass handed in a game he's created himself it's a very curious thing... I can scarcely compare it to being owned by an AI of one's own device, in that case at least you can be proud of the challenge you've created. getting owned in multiplayer at your own game is a truly unique experience... I don't think our culture has ever produced anything quite like it - all developers should try this, it's quite uncanny when it happens, I can't even say if it feels bad or good - it's neither, and both, it's thoroughly weird another funny part of it, is no matter how much you insist, nobody ever believes it when you say you're a dev in MP I did that a few times in a game I had made, it was hilarious Edited August 8, 2017 by 19//Moach 3
=GW=xshinel Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I think Han does his fighting with a broadsword, not a joystick. So would he slay his monitor by this big broadsword if he'd been shot down? 1
