danniego Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I am orientating to buy a simulator seat to complement IL-2 and VR to make the experience even better. Is it supported. Is it worth the money? Anyone have it and what are you thoughts about it. Which chair would you recommend. (I read only about two chairs: game seat 4 and game seat 105 which looks like office chair. Last one i am interested)
=IL2AU=chappyj Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 If you mean a motion simulator first thing to be aware of is that telemetry is not available in real time to hook into a motion platform. That means you can only really make a platform move via the movement of your input device. This will not fully simulate the forces you would experience in any given manoeuvre Also In running vr in a moving platform make sure you can mount the tracking camera or lighthouse on the same plane your body is sitting on as any movement of your head has to be relative to the 'cockpit' which is not the same as your head relative to the static floor or walls of your room Lastly if your headset relies on gyro and accelerometer to aid in movement tracking you would have to disable these modes of tracking for the same reason as above
chiliwili69 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 are you refering to this chairs? https://www.gekosystems.com/en/products.html
danniego Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) are you refering to this chairs? https://www.gekosyst...n/products.html Yes. Here is a nice demo of this chair with a flight sim: But if IL-2 does not have an telemetry data stream then there is no point of having it. It does work with other FS. On their page it says fsx , aerofly 2 and DCS too. Edited August 2, 2017 by danniego

Uufflakke Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) Yesterday a similar Q&A on the Russian forum about telemetric data and flight sim motion chairs (post #180 and further): https://translate.google.nl/translate?hl=nl&sl=ru&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fforum.il2sturmovik.ru%2Ftopic%2F6074-166-ya-chast-dnevnikov-razrabotchika%2Fpage-5 Edited August 2, 2017 by Uufflakke
19//Moach Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) personally, I recommend the VolairSim simulator pit chassis, plus a ButtKicker bass shaker - that's what I use that way you wouldn't need telemetry, and save yourself quite a handsome penny in the process... =IL2AU=chappyj Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) Those chairs (geko) really don't look appropriate for flight siming the range of movement is quite limited and looks more in line with small movements in a driving sim to me Don't forget to factor in how you will get hmd tracking to work in a moving chair as well if you do buy one. You can't just mount your tracking cameras on the floor next to it. Your head will warp all over the place in game Even cheaper than moaches setup . Buy some monitor swivel mounts that have a pole clamp mechanism on them and clamp them into your existing office chair Costs about $100 Edited August 2, 2017 by =WFPK=chappyj
Remontti Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 personally, I recommend the VolairSim simulator pit chassis, plus a ButtKicker bass shaker - that's what I use that way you wouldn't need telemetry, and save yourself quite a handsome penny in the process... I wouldn't recommend Buttkicker. I had Buttkicker gamer 2 and it lasted 2 months. After waiting 6 months I got a replacement for the broken one and it worked 2 months before the electronics died. I took it to local electronics shop and they opened it up. They said it was made of cheap Chinese parts and is not made to last.
=IL2AU=chappyj Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Isolated case? Seems to be a lot of people pretty happy with buttkicker but having said that it doesn't have a specific feed from the il2 game and relies on audio output only AFAIK RE hmd and motion platforms did a bit of digging at xsimulator There is a solution in the works that allows the tracking to remain floor mounted and uses a hand controller to cancel out the cockpit motion https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/vr-motion-cancellation-time-to-test.10241/
