SR603-Flowbee Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 How to make an older version playable offline without getting #10005 update your game message? (Needless to say I am launching from il-2.exe)
Potenz Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 there's no way to do that, and what you are trying to do is also piracy
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 there's no way to do that, and what you are trying to do is also piracy Where do you infer piracy?
Finkeren Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Piracy is putting it a bit too harsh, but yeah, it's not really possible.
SR603-Flowbee Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 there's no way to do that, and what you are trying to do is also piracy This says more about you than me I think. LOL Those little bars and Founder actually mean something. I would actually like a helpful answer if that is at all possible. 6
Jaws2002 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) there's no way to do that, and what you are trying to do is also piracy I don't know how you can make an old copy now. Maybe if you had an older one saved somewhere. I'm not sure if that would still work. I managed to get one of my older copies of CLOD to work, to get the original beauty of the game, by disabling steam updates, but BOS is updated by the official server, so it may not let you play without the updates. Maybe a steam copy may let you play in offline mode, if you disable the updates. Edited July 31, 2017 by Jaws2002

I don't know that it's "helpful" in achieving your goal but it is not possible to play downgraded, legacy versions due to the IL-2 master server/local client relationship. When you open the game and log in it must do some sort of version checksum against the master server to determine if your local client needs updated. I'm not sure how this works if you were on version 2.010, went offline for a month, never came online and attempted to play offline after the 2.011 update was pushed. I'd think that you'd bypass the checksum at that point but I've never tried it. TL;DR: can't force a version downgrade or play a legacy version if you've been online (in any capacity) after a master server version update.
SR603-Flowbee Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) "can't force a version downgrade or play a legacy version if you've been online (in any capacity) after a master server version update." I understand the statement but I always kept the previous version as a backup in case of problems. I have had little need to use it but now that I do have a problem, I find that I cannot run the old version even offline. I am sure that this used to work in the past. Has this option now been removed? Also when I am offline i.e not connected to the Internet at all it still checks my password but how can it know that there is a new version when the Master server cannot be contacted? Surely this is the key. Edited July 31, 2017 by Flowbee_603

You could always open a ticket with support (though I am absolutely certain this isn't going to get you anywhere) if none of our answers are acceptable to you.
SR603-Flowbee Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Brilliant - I can't go forward and I can't go back. Thanks for your answers I will await the next patch to solve the issue. I really do not see what harm it would do to let someone play the old version offline. Edited July 31, 2017 by Flowbee_603

If you're having issues updating to the current version try deleting everything in the updates folder located in your IL-2 directory. Otherwise, good luck!
SR603-Flowbee Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Again thanks - but I have exhausted all possibilities. I eventually installed on Windows 10 (I was and still am on Win 7) which worked but now find myself constantly switching back and forth between operating systems. It would have been easier just to run older version offline. Edited July 31, 2017 by Flowbee_603

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 as windows 97 never existed it was obviously a typo and he meant windows 7 (which is better for gaming anyways)Windows 10 is the next windows 8 (scam)

SR603-Flowbee Posted August 3, 2017 Author Posted August 3, 2017 Does Anyone Know The Way Did We Hear Someone Say (We Just Haven't Got A Clue What To Do) Does Anyone Know The Way There's Got To Be A Way
TP_Silk Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Does Anyone Know The Way Did We Hear Someone Say (We Just Haven't Got A Clue What To Do) Does Anyone Know The Way There's Got To Be A Way Loved that song. Been a long time since I heard it played though. The sirens wailing, the guitar riff - very iconic for those of us that are of a certain age.
DD_Arthur Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 - very iconic for those of us that are of a certain age. OK. I confess. I too am a child of glamrock Still...it's not all bad Good luck with your problem Flowbee
Livai Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 (edited) I make it short what mistakes you did 1. You not backup the whole IL-2 folder 2. Your PC or Notebook is connected to the internet all the time ( start the game once connected to the internet even if you press the offline button ->-> fail beause newer version is available ) 3. Re-install windows and it doesn't work anymore 4. Not to have the luxuries for two Windows installed where you install on both the game If the game is connected to the internet the game and the game launcher checks if new Versions are available during start procedure if yes the game use the new the Checksums from the new update what is available. Game Over, if you want now to play the older Version ----------> The best way how to use older versions is to have two windows where you install the game on both and never ever start the game connected to the dotcom!!!! Edited August 5, 2017 by Livai
SR603-Flowbee Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 (edited) Thanks but I'm not so sure. 1. I always back up the whole folder. 2.This is true. 3.Have not reinstalled Windows and game folder is moveable and useable across pc's. 4.I have got two versions of Windows (7/10) and installed 2 games on one pc with different HD's. However the last bit is useful. The best way how to use older versions is to have two windows where you install the game on both and never ever start the game connected to the dotcom!!!! The game has to be run online once in order to be allowed to run offline. However, if this was done before a new update was available then it might be playable offline later. I think the problem might be that the old game is being checked against the newer version on the same pc even when offline. Thank you for your input as this might help me in future. I am still hoping to make not playable old game work now but cannot get around the checksums. Not convinced that this is impossible. Edited August 5, 2017 by Flowbee_603
