II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Have a rift cv1, and got fps between 22-90 ,average with hud 25 ,without 44-45 ,graphical settings high, and oculus tray tool 1.8 no asw. Gpu gtx 1060 6gb Will i get an increase by overclocking cpu amd fx8370? Normal 8x4ghz Does this make sence? Edited July 31, 2017 by II/JG11ATLAN
dburne Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 You can try, but probably not a lot. Likely a little better CPU would help more - like a 1070. Ideal would be a 1080 Ti. Definitley fly with HUD disabled, as you have observed it is a performance killer. Also 1.8 SS in Oculus Tray Tool is a bit much for your rig, I would suggest between 1.3-1.5 max.
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Thx New GPU 1070 or higher not possible no money honey always fly without hud after Start procedure Edited July 31, 2017 by II/JG11ATLAN
A_radek Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) You would most likely get almost 1fps per 100mhz CPU clock increase. Your decision if it's worth it.Edit: chiliwili in post #8 has the correct numbersBut like Dburne said running 1.8 ss is a lot for a 1060 so that's your bottleneck. I have a 1070 and 1.3 ss is max I can get if I want to keep 90fps at "high" settings' Edited August 4, 2017 by a_radek
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 Ok will try between 1.3 and 1.5 thx
chiliwili69 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 you can set the graphics settings to Low or Balanced. The quality of the graphics doesn´t decrease. Only the range of the detailed view of the landscape and some shadows details. Try it and you will see.
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Thx switched to balanced 45fps only
chiliwili69 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) Your CPU is an AMD FX8370 which has a Passmark of 9000 (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php). It is a mid-range CPU which will be fine for playing at monitor (FullHD) but it might be not power enough for VR at High settings, or even balanced. I had a i7-4790 that had a passmark of 10000 and I sold it to upgrade to a i7-4790K to be able to overclock, so I gained some fps. (in VR about 1.5 to 4 fps per 100MHz). This is reported at https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/29881-overclocking-4790k-better-bos-performance You should also be aware that if you play with ASW ON you fps will be either 90 fps or 45fps, but nothing in between. The ASW is an Oculus mechanism that as soon as it detects that your fps are lower than 90 (for example 85), it automatically renders at 45fps and interpolate the intermediate frames to produce an image at 90Hz (which is the refresh frequency of the display). To put ASW OFF you should press Ctrl+NumPad1 and then your fps counter will be in whatever value between 90 and 0. (You can also deactivate ASW in the Oculus Tray tool). I conducted a test to determine how the settings affect fps in a monitor and VR, and discover that High and Ultra are very similar. Balanced is quite close to High. And Low is far less demanding. Try to put ASW OFF to know really where you are and try also with Low settings. If fps are still low you can try to OC your CPU. But be sure to have a proper CPU cooler and to monitor the core temperatures. Edited August 2, 2017 by chiliwili69
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 switch to low fps remain max 45 fps average asw off in tray tool
chiliwili69 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Set SS first to 1.0. (both in Oculus Tray Tool and SteamVR) and use Ctrl+Numpad1 during the game to be sure ASW is OFF. Try to run the Oculus compatibility check. Have you tried other games or sims with Rift? What are the fps you get in a FullHD monitor/TV?
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted August 3, 2017 Author Posted August 3, 2017 (edited) hi i give up,Facts on full hd tv on Ultra 60fps beforevrturned to 1.0 also STRG 1 numpad ingamemax without hud 44-45 fps NO CHANCEwhen you turn on the game in Hangar sometimes 90 fps always changing fps from low 1 to max 90 highoculus home tell evertime yr pc cannot run oculus vr , test oculus GTX1060 and FX8370 didn,t meet requirementsthats nonsense, gtx 1060 is recommended !!! and oculus didn´t want any amd, my squadmate didnt have this message he has a FX8350 !!!!!!.onlymaybe Motherboard ASUSM5A78L-M/USB3 has only pci express 2.0. graphic Slot, not Version 3.0.dont knowi have to live with it no Money for new pc till 2019! =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 OPWhat fps does your system pull in 2d mode.I am RunningFX8350 @ 4ghz (not even turbo 4.2ghz)GTX 1060 @ 1975mhz (not overclocked just locked to max clock always)HDD (no ssd)Windows 7 (home premium 64bit)@ 1080P on Full Ultra all options on (but fsaa turned off)I get 65-75fps with HUD ON OrI get 85-110 fps with HUD OFF..@ 2160P(4K) on Full Ultra all options on (but fsaa turned off)I get 40-50 fps with HUD ONOrI get 60-75 fps with HUD OFFBig problem with this package mate is the motherboard for our AM3 CPU'sare all only PCI-E 2.0 i have yet to find a 3.0 AM3 Motherboard on the market.PCI-E 2.0 lanes are majorly slower and lower bandwidth than 3.0this is causing a bottleneck thats not CPU or GPU based but motherboard..VR is a much higher load on system than single monitor Gaming in 2D mode.a good comparison would be side by side rendering of 2 x 4K monitors in il2.
II/JG11_ATLAN_VR Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 Asus Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3.0 R2.0 i found out that was the only mb with pcie 3.0 for amd 3+ but not anymore available
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 thanks mate... i might keep eye out for one..
