Confused by Campaign Mode...

I'm just trying to complete the various Campaign Modes as best as I can, but there seems little rhyme or reason to the structure.  Do I have to take up each plane offered, and complete each mission type with each plane or what? I saw another thread of a similar nature that Jason answered, but he more or less said to forget worrying about Campaign Mode as everybody dislikes it, and it was due a revamp.  Thing is, it's hard to forget about it when it is used as a mechanic to unlock certain things, the Stukka siren for example.  Anyone know how best to pick my way through?

Just pick a favorite plane, and fly the appropriate missions available for that plane. 

I made it through the entire BoS Campaign doing it this way with the Yak. The missions do get repetitious.

 

But yeah, the all new Career Mode is coming and that is going to be so very much better.

Bilbo... I'm a bit confused. Why are you needing to unlock things at this point? About a year ago the devs changed that system entirely and removed the unlock system (changing the name to modifications). By default all modifications should be unlocked.

 

The old Campaign system is being entirely replaced by a new Career system which was detailed in a pretty good way for the first time just yesterday (https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/168-developer-diary/?p=494245). So what Jason says is true. The current system is fine but its irrelevant to unlocks and the like.

 

In terms of enjoying it... well just pick a plane, a mission type, and play. It was designed to be a quick pickup/put down method of approaching things.

Thanks both.  Using the Stukka siren as an example....  Where is it, and how do I activate it then?  I know the key-binding, but it does nothing in-game.  When I last checked, I was told it was locked, and I was to wade through the Campaign Mode.

Log into il2sturmovik.com and navigate your profile options, the unlock everything button is somewhere in there.

or maybe you bought your game through G2A and got the Cheap Russian version of the game where you have to unlock everything

Really that should have been switched automatically. Perhaps something happened with your account and it wasn't? Did going to the site fix that at all? Maybe you'll need to contact support to get it fixed.

then you shouldnt be having those problems, unlocks are gone for good. do what was already suggested on this thread, look for the "unlock button" in you il2 site profile or contact support. good luck

Well you still have to unlock the airfields by flying numerous missions for each side.

Thanks all for helping.  You pointed me in the right direction.  It turns out, that I have to do the unlocks per plane, in the plane settings just before a mission.  I don't know why I hadn't noticed this before.  My Spitfire now has a mirror, and my Stukka can scream  Thanks again.
