Not working in Windows 10

Neither the TF steam version or the vanilla are running for me, although the game used to load in W10 before the unofficial beta was released.

I've tried both with and without the beta.  Also uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch.  Once I was able to get it to run, but as soon as I altered a graphics setting or control input, the game failed again upon the next attempted startup.  I've spent two evenings trying to remedy the problem, but so far haven't had any luck.

Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a definitive fix?

After changing your graphic settings, did you go into mydocuments/1csoft/Il2 Ciffs.... MOD/ and delete the cache folder?

Delete the cache folder outright, the game will create a new one every launch. Anytime you start having issues this is where to start.

I can only suggest the usual stuff like making sure there are no overlays, no Reshade garbage in the steam root folder and unchecking the cloud sync in steam.

What directory did you install game in?

Should not be
c:programs files or programs files (x86)

I've got it on a partitioned drive.  I never install games to C.

I've reinstalled.  Deleted cache several times, which still crashes but takes a couple of seconds longer to do so.  I've deleted launcher and configs, then ran the recovery to get new ones.  I've tried various compatibility modes, and tried to run from the launcher in the main directory.  I also tried the above steps with the cloud both on and off.  I'll give it one last go tonight on a different drive than I've been using Clod with since 2011 and see if that works.

Just out of curiosity, why not C drive, and why not programs86? Mine has always worked fine installed on C and programs 86

I don't use C: for games because if I want/need format C for some reason I don't need bother with save config files, and for certain games even in reinstall. For same reason my Documents folder is not in C:

Technically I don't see problem in install CloD in Programs... because CloD user files is not saved/updated there, but in Documents\1C... If Windows UAC is not set properly can block this files, but this is not related to Programs.

- Exception maybe for CloD campaigns that use custom DLL, like Desastersoft or Huninthesun, that .DLL can result blocked inside Programs File.

Is similar to what happen with STEAM Cloud - this is not "the evil" and can be helpful (for certain games), but CloD people leave STEAM and don't wait the Cloud update, then next day will complain that this "broken" their joystick assignment. :)

@ OP

Install CloD for STEAM, enable Beta, leave STEAM update.

Then if the game is not running go to the folder

...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover\_CommonRedist

And reinstall de soft there - re-start the computer. Good luck.

you need to delete all, including your user documents clod folder. Located here>  C:\Users\name\Documents\1C SoftClub

delete this and reinstall the game and start it make sure you run the game then under steam, turn on the beta install the TF patch. run it. no need to turn off the cloud any longer as the steam beta is up to date.

and as Sokol has stated I wouldn't instal in the C directory due to the joystick ID issues; Windows UAC issues.

You need to provide a few more details Kale1966.

What is your system?  What operating system?

Are you running the vanilla game?  If so, and you are using Windows 10, it won't run... it needs to be patched to the Team Fusion Beta option in Steam.

Please read the thread in this section:

Hello Raysmopar

Please go to this post and check the common causes for failure to launch.

Also please read the "Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide" which is located in (drive where installed)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/manuals/

If you cannot solve the problem, please post in the Technical Assistance forum along with your system specs.

Please note the most common issue is Anti Virus blocking the game from launching.  See the post above and the Guide for solutions.

Regarding your computer asking you to login as Admin, did you install the game as an Admin?  Did you allow other users to use the program when you installed?
