Launcher not working - the game does, but...

Hello,

 

I'm getting the following issue:

 

After about a week away from the game, the Il-2 launcher won't start anymore. When I run it, it starts (I can see its instance running on Task Manager) but then it stalls and stops working - without any error message at all and simply disappears from Task Manager.

 

I tried to run it as Admin too, still to no avail.

 

Then tried running il2.exe directly, it fires up the game, I can get to the hangar login screen, but I can't login online or try offline mode as it says I need to update (latest update I installed was 2.011) due to error #10005 (please update, there's a new version available or something like that).

 

Re-downloaded the game installer, installed to another folder (I don't want to lose my settings) and tried to run the launcher - still stalls when trying to fire it up.

 

Any clues? I'm using the latest AMD GPU drivers, but I guess it has nothing to do with the issue as I can apparently run the game to the hangar screen.

 

Any help is appreciated.

Before posting the first post I tried Google but of the results found none were similar to what is happening to my system as I explained above. Mine is the non-steam version.

 

I remember that perhaps it could be something to do with a Windows 10 update that was automatically installed just yesterday? It seemed like a huge update (installed Paint 3D and new features) and as I needed to reboot, was requested to reconfigure some privacy settings and such before logging into Windows. But without any error messages I don't know why the launcher is shutting down, is there a way to debug it?

The thought of being unable to play Il-2 BoX this upcoming weekend is kinda frustrating as I have got no clue at all to make the launcher work again to have the updates that the game is asking for to be installed. Maybe I'm asking too much, but is there a way to bypass the update via launcher and download and install it manually?

Thanks for your reply, but I wasn't even able to see the launcher screen. Like I said, the process stalled before the launcher screen was displayed.

 

Nonetheless I found yesterday night that the problem was with MSI Afterburner + RivaTuner running in background, perhaps some kind of conflict. Before launching the launcher, I must close MSI Afterburner (and RivaTuner Statistics Server) and the launcher screen shows up correctly. I was able run the update and then launch the game, which worked flawlessly. The curious thing is that while in-game, the RivaTuner statistics (fps, GPU usage and such) are displayed without any problems if I run il-2.exe bypassing the launcher.
