TheWarsimmer Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Was excited to back into Il2 after taking a couple years break, but I'm having major issues with mapping analogue inputs on my throttle, rudder, and stick. I remember this being an absolute pain the first time around (eventually had to use some third party software), and it looks to be the exact same this time. I'm using the T16000M FCS, TWCS Throttle, and Rudders. Basically, when I try to keymap anything that is on an analogue scale it doesn't work. For example, I want to set the yaw with the rudders. The instructions say to press the pedals all the way for right direction, and then to switch all the way left. When I do it, it will randomly assign only one of the directions. It does this for every single analogue input. I can't even set the trim with dial on the throttle. No other flight sim I play has this issue. I can go into my thrustmaster settings and everything works fine. There must be some fix, as I know this is a common setup, but I have absolutely never been able to do this easily with Il2. Every other game is easy as pie when it comes to keymapping, but not this one! I've spent about four hours on it already, and I'm ready to call it quits. I've installed the drivers too (they aren't needed in other sims but I gave it a try anyway). Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Chomp Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Yeh! I agree, it can be a bit temperamental. I don't have the rudder peddles, not TM ones anyway, so can't say for that. I have experienced what you mentioned mapping hats to trims, radiators etc. and with the dial on the throttle for mixture in my case. I have everything working fine now though. With the hats, I have found that pushing the direction to first side, then straight to the other way for the second without letting it stop in the middle and doing it pretty quick seems to work better. Still it might take a couple of retry's. For the dial, just make sure the dial is somewhere close to middle before starting the mapping, then again go full 1 way to full the other relatively quickly, without stopping in the middle.
Ribbon Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 (edited) When axis are assigned they ony need one (positive or negative axis side) to work. I have twcs, ch pedals and before was using t16000m. Didn't have problem with assigning it! Only problem may be inverted axis output but there is small arrow button by each axis in game keybinding settings to invert it. Good luck! TheWarsimmer Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 Thank you both for the help. I'm going to try and do it again with the method you desribed, chomp. Redribbon, are you saying that even if only one axis is reported in the keymapping, it should still work fine? When I go to the little setup box on the far right after it does that, the guage will be flatlined either all the way left or right, rather than centered in its resting state. Does that matter? Either way I'm going to try it as soon as I get the chance. Thanks again for the help, I will report back when I can run a trial.

Yes only one axis side/direction is keybinded and that's ok, it will work in game just fine on both axis direction. That sqare window by side is to calibrate responses by your needs (center deadzone and curve responses), if your stick recentering is not perfect you can set center deadzone and such.

It does this for every single analogue input. Sounds like that you are pressing pedal brakes - even involuntary - instead moving the rudder bar back and forth in rudder (YAW) assignment, why the scale in axis tune is all for one side, as brake axis has no center position like the rudder axis, is 0 or 100 (depends on direction registered). I can't even set the trim with dial on the throttle. Unless this was changed recently the only "trim" possible to assign in analog axis (rotaries, levers, dials, slider... etc.) is "Stabilizer Adjust" - usable for Bf 109 and (not sure) Mc-202(?). TheWarsimmer Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 Alright, so I figured it out with your all's help. It turns out I was hitting the brake a little by accident with the rudder (never would have figured that out on my own), and I was trying to map certain settings that are not allowed to be mapped by analogue. I went back in and was sure to be very smooth with my transitions back and forth, and even though it only showed one axis keybound, it all works perfectly now. Really appreciate the help! Now all that's left is to find out why I can't bind the escape menu to anything other than the escape button . Btw, VR is VERY worth it if you can do 1.5SS!

Add some deadzone in brakes axis - in that "gauge" tab, to avoid takeoff/landing with brakes semi-pressed.
