TXSailor_1 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 So, my experience is only with the 1942 model so far, so the 1941 may be different. It seems that there is no bomb bay function for the aircraft. The bombs other than the heavies, are carried internally, and yet there are no doors to open, and you simply press bomb release. Is this an oversight in the airframe?
7.GShAP/Silas Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) The bomb bays are spring-operated. When you drop a bomb, the weight of it opens the door and it falls free, and then the door returns to the closed position. It is not only the 250Kg bombs that are carried externally, but also any configuration where you are carrying more than four bombs, as there are only 4 bomb bays, leaving two of the six bombs to be carried externally and dropped first, clearing the way for the others. 216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 The doors are held closed by a spring mechanism, while the bombs are in conventional racks inside the bay. The weight of the bombs opens the bay and the springs close it.
