No601_Swallow Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Has anyone ever come across this little variation on a failure to update properly? It's a bit weird. I got back from holiday today all eager to finally get my hands on the new Spitfire Vb. I fired up my battered old gaming PC, let the launcher download the 3 gb update for version 2.011, clicked "Play" and... ... nothing! There's no error message, no request to update Visual C, etc, etc. Nothing. There seems to be a new window open according to the Windows 10 taskbar, but nothing is visible onscreen, and eventually Windows 10 tells me IL2.exe is "not responding". A brand new player, bicheichane, has experienced the same thing and has asked for help here. (Obviously, this post should be in the same "room", but, well, y'know! ) Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated! Edited July 25, 2017 by No601_Swallow
Feathered_IV Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Do you have SweetFX installed? That often causes problems after an update.

Ahh no sweetFX and or Reshade work fine through updates or not (does not require reinstalling) Must common cause of problems with games in general is the Trash Spyware/Virus that is Windows 10 Upgrade to windows 7 and get back FPS and Stability

Not very good advice for the OP, who's problem obviously lies elsewhere. Swallow - first definitely get rid of any 3rd party shader programs if you have as Feathered suggested. Also insure you are running latest drivers for your video card, and if running Nvidia only install drivers and PhysX. None of that other stuff especially GeForce Experience, it does not play nicely with BoS. If you have Nvidia and have not done so in a while, I suggest uninstalling drivers in safe mode with Display Driver Uninstaller, then do a clean install of the latest drivers as mentioned above.

Just as asinine as the "TS/Vent are spyware!!1!" comment from yesterday. Please do not take technical advise from this user. PM any of the numerous people on these forums who actually know what they're talking about or open a ticket with 777's support desk. -snip- None of that other stuff especially GeForce Experience, it does not play nicely with BoS. -snip- Really? I haven't had any issues with it. I'm on Win10 Pro by the way. I gave these suggestions in the other thread that was mentioned: Update display drivers (clean install) Reinstall DX, .NET, etc. redistribs Reinstall the game Edited July 26, 2017 by Space_Ghost
No601_Swallow Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 Thanks for the advice, gents. I actually like windows 10, sio that's not really a factor for me. I'll try the Great Nvidia Purge tonight. (But it's still strange that it's just this update to 20.011 that's caused me this bother!)

Good luck!
TP_Silk Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Swallow - You could also try a repair of your installation if you use Steam. I'm sure there's probably a way to do it as well if you have the stand-alone version.
