Game won't start at all

Hello guys,

 

Yesterday I bought IL 2 BoS, activated key on website, downloaded the game, fired up the launcher, but everytime I try to start the game the icon appears on the taskbar, but nothing else happens. When I click on the icon, no window shows up, and if I just hover on the icon, it shows as not responding. I have never successfully started up the game unlike all the other similar reports I've seen when trying to find a solution for this. Could someone help please?

This exact thing is happening to me. I'm a long time player, but I've been on holiday and only came back (after the 2.011 update) today, and ran the updater for the very first time SINCE THE UPDATE (never any trouble before).

 

Most strange. There is no error message, no indication of anything - just some sort of "invisible" failure to launch, which I then have to quit with the task manager (or clicking the "x" in the Windows 10 little preview thing (see Bicheichane's picture).

 

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (The mission editor works fine!)

Update GPU drivers, reinstall redistributables or reinstall the game - those seem to be the common cures I've read since 2.011.

Uninstalled and re-downloaded through steam, still the same issue..

Did you attempt updating your GPU driver or reinstalling the DirectX/other redistrib packages?

My GPU driver is already up to date (checked with GeForce experience, running a gtx 1080). And I did try reinstalling directx and visual c++ 2015

Doesn't seem like this is it,but maybe worth the try.From sneaksie:

If you get an error about wrong DLL please open data\redist folder and run vc_redist.x64.exe manually (on some systems the updater doesn't have the rights to install it).

there is no launcher in the steam version.

try launching from the il-2.exe  make sure the steam version if your running from steam is update by checking the download area for steam

uncheck seed while downloading in the launcher settings area.

Thanks for the suggestions, Gents, but nothing seems to be working.

 

The Visual C++ and the dotNetFx (both to be found in the "redist" folder in the "data" folder in the game installation folder, Bicheichaine), for me, are both installed fine (the dotNet installer even tells me it won't install because it's already up to date), and the "seed while downloading" checkbox makes no difference. I'm not running Sweetfx, and I've never had this trouble with any other update! Even launching the il2.exe directly has the same effect - nothing. Something "opens" - there's a new icon in the taskbar, and the task manager tells me il2.exe is running, but there's nothing visible, nothing I can interact with. Grrrr!

 

Now I'm wishing I could roll back to 2.010 so I could at least play the game in the previous version!

 

(PS. I also updated my nVidea driver to 384,94 - seems to be the current one - just in case. No effect.)

Did you try out to start the game with "admin rights"?

Something is messed up and interfere with the game start. Do we not have Error Reporting where the game create dump files that you can upload here or is this brocken, too?

Guys, I figured out what was stopping my game from running.. My freaking MSI board Nahimic sound executables! Unintentionally I ended up starting the game before they loaded in after a reboot, and the game started with no issues whatsoever. Tried closing it and restarting it (by then the nahimic sound stuff was all up and running), and the game stopped responding on launch. So I went to task manager and terminated all the nahimic related processes, and bam, il 2 running back up again.. That's just really weird

@Swallow;  I note in other threads some people could not get the game to start without disabling Nvidia Experience?

If I've got some similar conflict going on due to a "background process"... no luck so far. Thanks for the suggestion, Arthur, but I only reinstalled Nvidia Experience this morning to help update my driver. It's not running now (I don't think).

Hmm...in my PC Nvidia Experience runs at background as it starts automaticly with booting of the OS. Maybe try to exclude it from start-up programs? I usually do it thru CCleaner software.

For anybody else, Windows 10 startup applications can be adjusted through Task Manager.

 

MSConfig doesn't work the same way in 10 that it did in 7.

Same here after last update, the game dont start anymore, i do reinstall several times but it seem no fix the problem, any help please i cant play anymore!
