Holtzauge Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I would like to see an ”analog” g-meter that is (if activated by user) visible in all views. I think this does not lessen but actually increases realism: IRL, when you fly you always get a “seat of the pants” feedback on how many g’s you are pulling and this is extremely helpful especially when you have no visual feedback. For me the problem was accentuated with the recent introduction of the Spitfire due to how easy it is to pull more g than you intend bleeding your e so this triggered me thinking about this again. The reason I say “analogue” has to do with how it should be presented: IMHO a bar with a level or colour coding would be good as long as you could see the info in the corner of your eye since like IRL you should get the g-load feedback without taking the focus away from what you are doing. Consequently, say you have a in-game view where you only see blue sky and the opponent plane you should still see the g-bar so you could control your e-state. IMHO this info should also be available in the in-game “expert” mode since you are privy to this info also IRL through the “seat of your pants” feedback. Thoughts? Is this s good or a bad idea? Should the info “always” be there even if flying expert and no icons?
ZachariasX Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I think it would be a good idea to have it as an option included in the HUD. It would help a lot in getting an idea about how hard you're actually pulling. Once you get an idea, it will for sure be also a help in full real servers / settings. I like the idea of a bar, maybe also in a distict color hue to easily get an idea for any load factor anywhere between 0 and maybe 7 g's. Beyond that, blackout for sure would set in as one sits upright in most of these aircraft.
