Salutations,

 

Are there game objects that can be added to our missions that can block tank or ATG fire? Other than buildings that is.

 

Problem: Currently the AI and players can see and fire through trees. Not good or very realistic.

It seems that the games 'craters' give some protection to vehicles in or behind them.

 

This is not verified... but it looked like it in my preliminary testing.

After some further testing... craters do NOT seem to provide any protection. :unsure:

Update: Good news tank mission builders! :)

graphics\blocks\art_position_at2

This does provides defensive protection! Especially to the flanks. Two can be placed side by side for even better overall defensive coverage. Not invulnerable but does inhibit incoming fire.

graphics\blocks\tank_position

The tank_position provides defensive protection but only a Player can see and fire upon the position. The AI doesn't apparently recognize its existence and doesn't fire upon it if it is a unlinked entity. Not invulnerable either but pretty good.

 

Addendum: I found a solution for this... make the tank_position a linked entity and set it to the proper country in its Advanced settings and the enemy AI can see and fire upon it.
