BeastyBaiter Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Facebook is doing all the right things with VR as I see it. They chopped the price to half that of the Vive, are putting some serious effort into making quality VR only titles and recently came out with some allegedly very good touch controllers (still waiting to be shipped, hopefully late next week). The real driving point is price and games. It doesn't matter what the price is unless there are games for it and the games don't matter if the price is absurdly high like it used to be for OR and still is for the Vive. I'm sure facebook is losing serious cash right now by doing all this (probably selling OR at or near cost, certainly losing money on games) but these short term expenses are what it's going to take to draw in a large user base. Once they have that, then they can stop the game dev side and let others do it, just like any normal non-VR game.
