xDeadMan Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) I'm having issues with precisionX and il2 running along side each other. IL2 continues to crash. I believe there's a work around which is shutting down precisionx completely and attempting to run Il2 BOS. Though that may not be working either, I have to test it a couple times. I thought I would run this by the dev teams and community. My graphics card is an EVGA 1080 Classified. Im not posting this to argue about whether or not the card needs to be overclocked. Thanks. I'm hoping that by the time I would need to OC my card, this issue, if its on the dev side, will be fixed. Edited July 17, 2017 by Nunz2
xDeadMan Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) Do you have a 780 video card? Jason No I had a 780 ti but have since replaced it for a 1080 classified. It seems I can shut down precisionX completely and play il2 BoS. The only issue is the software readings I was looking for. Its not a big deal but for people with older cards looking for that boost, it could be an issue. I would also like to see my precisionX read-outs but Im not too worried about it atm. Jason_Williams Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Oh didn't see that. I don't know what it may be sorry. Maybe you are overclocking too much. Not sure. Jason
xDeadMan Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 I'm an avid OC'er. Its not a big deal for me. My numbers dont even reach over 2000mhz atm. Its an out of the box, boost. Its only when I run il2 that theres an issue. Heat is below 40c. I just thought Id point it out for us OCers who like the extra boost. No big deal.
Sunde Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 My 1070 is happy with me adding an extra 200 on the boost clock (MSI afterburner) and 300 on the memory... No issues for me on Il-2.
Dutch2 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I think also: move to afterburner and check on the OSD, to watch while playing whats going on.
xDeadMan Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 I guess I could switch to MSI afterburner. I guess there's not much reason not to other than Ive grown comfortable using precisionX.
dburne Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Interesting, I will likely be trying Precision XOC sometime tomorrow. Have not used Precision in years as I really prefer Afterburner. However I have a new EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Elite card due to arrive later today, and as I understand Precision XOC is required in order to control all three fans on that card. I can continue to use Afterburner with it, however it would only control the one GPU fan and not the other two.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) My Precision X OC works fine. 1080 GTX, / on IL2 BOS. not one issue. I run it with steam; heck, it works fine except for the part, will not start with windows boot up. I have to launch it myself. WIndows 10 64 bit 16gb, asus x99, i75930k, 1080 EVGA F, 1200 ATX PSU. Corsair. So I really don't think it's an IL2 issue, Edited July 17, 2017 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
dburne Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) New version of Precision XOC just posted, 6.1.11. May be worth a shot. https://www.evga.com/precisionxoc/ Will be able to test with my new card tomorrow. Edited July 17, 2017 by dburne
xDeadMan Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) Hmm Weird. Wonder why mine wont allow me to have both il2 and precisionx running. I can use precisionx settings and keep it closed but not have them operating at the same time. Yeah idk what the issue is. If I launch precisionX after Ive launched BOS it seems to work fine. But il2 wont launch if I have precisions launched first. Edited July 17, 2017 by Nunz2

This.... Don't bother with overclocking if your sporting a 1070/1080. I never pull less than 80 fps with everything maxed out on WOL while running reshade.
SharpeXB Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I am running IL-2 and Precision XOC together without any trouble.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) make sure your installing in a separate folder and not n the C:/program files folder it some times as admin issues with this. i.e just make a folder for the C:\EVGA\Precision XOC Edited July 18, 2017 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
dburne Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I can report this morning at least for my new EVGA 1080 Ti card, Precision XOC 6.1.11 is working fine along with BoS for me.

I never pull less than 80 fps with everything maxed out on WOL while running reshade. Is That @ 4K and @ 100hz? even GTX 1080 XP Cannot pull constant 100 FPS @ 4K on all ultra settings :D
Livai Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Glad that I have the 9900 GTX..... ......looking from up ( ) down to the much older 1060/1070/1080/1080Ti/1080XP graphics cards trying hard not to convince myself - WHY? - I am the only one here that has the newest card the " 9900 GTX " - WHY?? - You all sporting your cards with overclocking trying hard to reach the level from my 9900 GTX? - I not understand it? - The 9900 GTX always be the newest card light years ahead........... Even Precision X recognise the 9900 GTX and allows me with OC to reach the next level quickly if I want to but no need to. Precision X OC and running IL-2 with the 9900 GTX , no problems here!!!! The Performance @ 4k it's over 9999 FPS ( The FPS Counter stopped working at this number ) everything maxed out....... amazing. Waiting now for the first g-sync 4k monitor 144hz that allows me to enjoy 4k and 144hz together with IL-2!!!!

xDeadMan Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) I can't figure it out. I run through steam. If precision overlay is active IL2 crashes every time. I'm downloading the stand-alone. That might fix the issue. Edited July 20, 2017 by Nunz2
xDeadMan Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Nope. I lied. Cant get the stand-alone to work with il2 either. Edited July 20, 2017 by Nunz2

That might fix the issue. your not running the Steam overlay also are ya, could be the issue. all though mine works with no problem with other overlays. if you give set up info could help further, i.e your PC rig, 3rd party apps running, etc. etc. I would do a uninstall, and then reinstall the app. stand alone only as I didn't like the steam version. xDeadMan Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Im running windows 7. Other than that the hardware is up to date. I do run steam overlay and nvidia shadow play. Im sorting through it now to see which one or if it all crashes il2. I'm running precisionX with no OC(stock software). Its still causing il2 to crash. Ive run both steam and precisionx as admin. Il2 Doesn't crash, ever, without precisionX running. I can run nvidia shadowplay with recording on. Never had an issue. Edited July 20, 2017 by Nunz2

jarg1 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I had the same issue. Windows 10, game crashed when I try to launch mission while using the newest version of Precision XOC but worked with every other app I've used recently. Shadow play disabled. Uninstalling Steam version and using stand alone version seems to have fixed the problem.
SYN_Speck Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 (edited) I have this issue too. Running stand-alone IL2, Win 10, GTX980ti, no OC. GeForce is not installed. For some reason, for me at least, it is caused by the PrecisionX OSD (on screen display [overlay.]) With the PrecisionX OSD enabled, IL2 crashes when I try to launch a mission. With OSD disabled, it works fine. So that's what I do. This problem just started occurring a couple months ago. Before that, IL2 worked with OSD enabled. I had a long gap this spring (couple months) where I did not play IL2. A couple IL2 patches were implemented during this time. I have to think that one of them somehow inadvertently caused this conflict with the OSD, which started to occur the first time I started up, updated and tried to play IL2 after this long gap. I updated to latest version of PrecisionX but it did not solve the problem. Ditto with updated Nvidia drivers. Looking at the PrecisionX forums, it seems that there are other games with this same issue of OSD causing crashes (no mention of IL2 there, go figure So I disabled OSD and it solved the problem. I'd like to have the OSD enabled, but I am mainly using PrecisionX to control GPU fan speed, so I'm living without it. Edited August 3, 2017 by SYN_Speck
jarg1 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Same here, Precision Server seems to be the culprit. Disabling OSD shuts this down I noticed you can add apps to the server, but haven't yet tried adding IL2 to see if that works. I have this issue too. HenHawk Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) The game freezes and then crashes after about 10 min when I play MP with PrecisionX on. I've checked the stability of the overclock game many times and it's solid. In a way I'm glad others are having the same issue, I thought I was going crazy! Edited August 4, 2017 by HenHawk
