Bilbosmeggins Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 The game had been working fine, apart from a graphics glitch. However, this morning it refuses to load at all. The opening screen flashes up for a few seconds and then disappears, and nothing....... No error code, no icon at the bottom of the screen to say the game is running, nothing. I've tried the obvious thing, and un-installed/re-installed twice, but the problem persists. Both VR and flat have the same zero result. I've tried my other games, and sims, and everything is dandy. Just not IL2. Any ideas anyone? I really don't want to be trapped in DCS world as a poor-man's alternative Oh, I did change my password yesterday, because I couldn't remember it, but have played since then.
dburne Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Have you tried doing a clean graphics driver install with only the drivers discussed in the other thread? As mentioned BoS especially with VR does not play well with GeForce Experience installed.
Bilbosmeggins Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Not as yet, but I don't think that's the issue, as I have played it with GE installed, and now absolutely nothing.
unreasonable Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Have you run it successfully since the last patch? (ie the Spitfire)
Bilbosmeggins Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Thanks both, and apologies to dburne. I deleted GE, and managed to get the game fired up. Still having a few issues, but trying to get my head around them. Not too sure when the last patch was, but I have Steam set to auto-update, and was playing happily last night.

Bilbosmeggins Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Thanks. I do absolutely love it. Just trying to get it looking as good as possible is quite a battle. I hate having labels over enemy planes, but am finding spotting them quite problematic, let alone identifying them. It's worth sticking with though
dburne Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Thanks. I do absolutely love it. Just trying to get it looking as good as possible is quite a battle. I hate having labels over enemy planes, but am finding spotting them quite problematic, let alone identifying them. It's worth sticking with though Yeah I find spotting not so difficult, but the ID part certainly can be. Got to really have a grip on the planes outlines and wing designs. As I fly SP only, I have no problem flipping that little switch at times on my Warthog throttle I have assigned that enables labels lol. The best thing you can do for image clarity, is to increase Pixel Density, if you have a rig that can handle it. 1.5-1.6 in Oculus seems to be about the sweet spot. In Steam VR, I think for SS it would equate to about 2.1-2.2 setting in Steam VR I run a profile for BoS in the Oculus Tray Tool for a Pixel Density of 1.5. It helps, but no magic fix by any means. The next generation of VR Headsets undoubtedly will help this tremendously with much better native resolutions.
