=KG76=flyus747 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 This is something that I recently noticed when I put my spitfire into a dive. I went straight down then at 600 kmh I put down the gears, they didnt rip, then at about 750 kmh, I pulled straight back on the stick, wings didnt rip. Nothing ripped or fell off. Shouldn't the gears have came off at that speed? Shouldnt the high Gs have ripped the wings? This was evident in IL2 1946 and War Thunder but not in BOS, I don't know if this is really how it actually is or just something that has not been modeled in to the game. Thoughts anyone? This isn't to say that I don't acknowledge that the planes do get damaged at high speeds. I just think its a bit unrealistic that these planes are that "tough" so to speak. In the case of the spitfire, I noticed that atround 770 kmh, the ailerons, elevators and rudders did fall but nothing else. the same was the case with the HE111. These were the two aircrafts I had tested on.
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 (edited) I had two Yak-1's follow me in a dive yesterday at 670-730 kph. Their wooden wings handled it like champs. I did get to watch them plow into the earth though, as they were both unable to pull out in time as I leveled. (I submitted claims back at HQ!) Edited July 15, 2017 by hrafnkolbrandr
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 What altitude did you do these tests at?Air thickness matter.Eg, in 109 @ 8K you can open cockpit and fly around with it open as air so thin it dont rip off.
19//Moach Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 (edited) ripping wings have been confirmed: https://youtu.be/2SyjurSpVN4?t=347 the spar is a lie... haven't tried "self-destruction by prohibited extension of landing gears" yet - so far I've had plenty of help from eagerly volunteering german pilots who thoughtfully assist in all of my "mid-flight airframe partitioning" trials...
