Fluttering wings bug ?

Maybe a bug, but not sure, it might just be me.

As mentioned before, in another thread, flying the Spit I seem to be very good at knocking off complete wings, it's the vast majority of my kills since the last patch.  I've just flow a couple of missions against several 110's, QMB, not only did they always loose a wing but if I was shot down, twice, I also lost a wing.  It's always a whole wing, never just a bit, but the whole thing I just wondered if it might be a calculation bug somewhere ?

As a side note there is definitely an actual bug, when the 110 wing detaches it vanishes into thin air.

110 is made of paper.

It's probably the kinetic damage from the Hispano. It's really quite a potent cannon. The cartridge is 20 x 110 (larger than any of the other 20mm cannons) and it has a high muzzle velocity... 860 m/s I think? In any case... they are large shells travelling at a high speed and they hit hard. Breaking key airframe members is what they are good at. The MG151/20 has the MINE shell and the ShVAK's smaller shells have a bit more capacity while still maintaining good stats.

And why should they do more damage with half the HE filling compared to minen? More kinetic energy is not relevant if you hit the wings, they are not armored and will be penetrated from most if not all shells of this caliber.

Doesn't their fuse detonate *after* penetration? That can't be good for a wing.

I'm not sure it's so much the weapon, or ammunition, it's the fact that the target is regularly, to the point of nearly always, losing it's wing at the root.

Both times I was shot down it was the 110 rear gunner and both times I lost my wing at the root (flying Spitfire)

My impression after testing alot, i mean alot, is that all the wings of singleseaters are very weak against the Hispanos. I test it with unlimmited ammo and unlimmited waves of enemy planes, one at a time and im using the Spit against almost every singleseater plane ingame. Even the IL2 has paperwings against the Hispanos. The IL2 is my favoured plane to shoot at because it is tough and slow and blind at novice pilot level. But im not a bot and my impression could be wrong, more testing is needed.

I read that too but the wings are very thin at certain angles like near 90°. Not sure about overpenetrating but yeah, if this is the reason for the paperwings, then i have no problem with that. :)
