von_Tom Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Anyone noticed a 20-30+ fram rate drop post patch? I currently get 45fps and on occasion it has dropped to 20. Pre-patch it'd be steady 90 with the occasional drop. I occasionally get double images of aircraft that are passing by rapidly eg after a merge. Spec: W10 64 i7 4770k OC'd to 4.3 16Gb RAM GTX 1080 - driver 384.76 Xonar D2X sound card The only change for me is leaving the new graphics presets as they have defaulted so: Mirrors: Complex Distant landscape: x4 Grass: Ultra Landscape filter: Sharp AA: x4 I use Oculus Tray Tool (latest version) with SS 1.3 and ASW off. Game resolution is set to 800x600. Any ideas anyone? von Tom

Are you flying the Spit? I will say I tried mirrors with the Spit, and got a pretty significant frame rate hit with them on, so I turned off again. More so than the ones in the Yak. Double images is typically ASW kicking in , and is more noticeable the bigger the fps hit. But I see you have it disabled, can you confirm that it is actually disabling? Click on the green button toward the bottom of the Oculus Tray Tool and it will tell you if ASW was disabled when you ran BoS. Or perhaps it could be with the very low fps stuttering is causing it. I have read about others getting significantly low framerates with this version on monitor, over in the tech forum. Yours is the first I have seen for a large hit in VR. ClarkFable Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Are you playing multiplayer? The more crowded the servers get, the more likely you are to see perf drops. Things have been very crowded lately.
von_Tom Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 ASW disabled and have been playing with the Spit in quick mission on Stalingrad summer and cloudy. I'll check OTT is up to date. Von Tom
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 (edited) Came across similar issues on my rig yesterday, searched the internet, will spare you the extensive details: It should be the latest NVIDIA drivers. Try to roll back to 'late June driver', please make sure you make a clean installation. Good luck mate! Edit: I was on my phone at work I was crunching too many numbers that day. Replaced 8**.shenanigans with 'late June drivers', Kamerad! Edited July 15, 2017 by 1CAG_Fenris_Wolf
von_Tom Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Which driver? Do you mean 352,53 from last year or another one? Von Tom
von_Tom Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Rolled back to 37something and there is an improvement. von Tom
von_Tom Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 This is doing my head in. Disabling the HUD gets me 10 FPS as opposed to 20-25 before. The mirror doesn't seem to make any difference and I get similar fps when in a 109 or a Spit. Dropping to High, 2xAA from Ultra and 4xAA gets me maybe 8 fps or so. Anyone know which is the best driver for Rift and a 1080? I'm trying to find 352.53 but cannot find it anywhere. von Tom
von_Tom Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Tried 382.53 with: Ultra 4x Mirror SS 1.3 +ASW off Then High 2xAA No mirror SSx0 in OTT + ASW off No noticeable change. I then tried free flight over different maps and it was very noticeable dropping to 20-25 fps when landing on a map with lots of trees. I suspect it is the change in landscape setting on Ultra though why the FPS drop also hits High I don't know. I'll just have to keep an eye on it I guess. von Tom
dburne Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) That is weird. I run on Ultra, terrain x4, 2x aa and Sharpen. PD of 1.5. ASW off. No mirror. I have never seen mine drop below 45 fps and am usually considerably higher - often at 90 fps. It gets down around 45 fps when down really low like in landing, or very heavy combat. ClarkFable Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Did you guys check to make sure your Nvidia Control panel settings didn't revert back to Optimum (as opposed to maximum performance) for il-2?
von_Tom Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) I haven't touched the Nvidia control panel settings for BOS at all and have not had issues before now. I'll have a play tomorrow. von Tom Edited July 13, 2017 by von_Tom
TP_Jacko Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Tom, did this get fixed by tweaking or is it a Rift issue.
von_Tom Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 Hi Jack I turned off my FPS counter and went by eyeball and apart from very rare choppy moments and the occasional visible drop in frame rate, most noticeably on the deck near Moscow, it's fine. von Tom
