Bigscreen about to get major overhaul

I myself have not tried the Bigscreen app as of yet , but understand it is pretty cool for social gatherings and perhaps some game streaming. Looks like they are doing a big update to it here in a couple of weeks to really increase it's capabilities.

I was thinking much the same. It'll be interesting to see if we can do something interesting and worthwhile to add to the social side of flight simming.

 

I don't really go in for social media much, or feel much inclined to tell the world about my every brain fart or personal goal achieved but I could see this becoming interesting and maybe even instructive, a group teaching, learning tool that is significantly more than just a disembodied voice somewhere out there in the Ether-net.

Well, that was a little surreal.

 

No idea what I was doing, but created a room, called it "IL2 BoX Crew Room" and tried to figure out what was happening. seemed like it might be fun.  A couple of people popped up, who they were, I have no idea, just having a look see, I think mine was the only room available which is why I proved so popular, It's not my sense of humor, that's for sure.

 

I'm still not sure what was going on but that said I think we should try and set up a trial room, even just as an experiment, say hello, and try and figure out what's going on and if it adds to our sim experience.  I strongly believe it could be useful as a training and information exchange area and also lead to better online comm's and teamwork.

 

Not to blow my own trumpet but if we maybe use a consistent or regular name, such as "IL2 BoX Crew Room" then whoever sets the room up we know what to expect.

 

Anyone up for giving it a go tomorrow night ? 

 

Suggestions for a good time would be helpful  8pm GMT or a little later works well for me but I'm open to suggestions.

If I recall reading correctly, I think currently the limitation on a room is 4. I would think it could be set up private and passworded but not sure as I have never tried it.

 

When the new version comes out in couple of weeks or so, that limitation number should increase nicely.

 

I probably will not be available tomorrow evening, but certainly would consider at some point in the near future. Wife and I usually have a movie night here at home on Sunday evenings.

Perhaps some others in here can join up with you tomorrow evening.

Oh well, let's wait a couple of weeks, for the update, I'll see if I can figure out how it works (can't find an obvious set of instructions) it might be fun if we can get a crowd interested and chat about our experiences of playing BoX, particularly in VR.
