It doesn't matter what maneuvers I'm doung and tbh they don't even seemed to be lined up with me half the time as they fire and hardly ever miss. The bullets seem to come at me from all sorts of wierd angles compared with direction of enemy plane. Has anyone else noticed this? Doesn't matter what level of AI you pick, they are dead eye shots.

Yeah I feel your pain.

Agreed, they can hit you at some near impossible angles. Evasive manoeuvring isn't really useful.

Ace and sometimes Veteran, less so on lower levels. RoF is similar.

Oh well. I guess it means I needn't bother with mirrors in VR because they'll blow you out of the sky from all angles. My wingman aren't much help these days either. They go off on their own more often than not completely disinterested in fighting. COME BAAAACCKK! :)

On the plus side. I could never enable FFB with my MSFFB2 otherwise I'd get stutter with TrackIR. However, now in VR , its perfectly smooth with FFB on. Another level of realism. Woot!

As much as the AI frustrates me, I'm loving this game in VR.

Agreed, been playing the new campaign and the friendly AI seem to hold formation no matter what orders I give, the only time I've seen them engage was when one jumped in front of me to steal my kill after I had the bandit smoking. AI def needs a lot of work...

If I set the AI to Veteran or ACE Level. The AI run away from me...................

That's just the nature of AI in a flight sim. They can't fly half as well as we do (at least when they use the same FM as we do, as is the case in this sim) so the way to make them a threat is to up their gunnery skills somewhat.

You should play the original to get a refresh on true magical aim. Rarely miss? They DON'T miss in that sim and have unbelievable agility. Now for this sim, my advice is to initially push gentle negative Gs while rolling hard and then once inverted, dive while changing directions every now and then while pulling up. That tactic typically works 90% of the time for me. If one is really on you and you are equal in terms of energy, then really you just have understand both your aircraft and theirs to make a decision on what you want to do. You aren't going to try and make an i-16 overshoot a 190. Also, try not to get frustrated with getting shot down, there is no perfect tactics that allows you to avoid any and every bullet, the best you, or any other pilot can do is just make it as hard as possible to shoot you, but it will never be impossible to land a hit on you.

Yep, AI has unhuman accuracy and will hit you even from impossible angles. Generally speaking using a lot of rudder will put off their aim for a bit but it will cost you lot of E.

This AI is the sequel of bad decision applied into "old" IL2 game very years ago. FM AI equal of human behaviour was a bad decision from Oleg Maddox team sadly applied also in this game.

Try to fly A2A "Battle Of Britain II"  http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/forum/

You will discover that isn't impossible to have good and very challenging A.I. not target fixated and not uber.

if just developers of 1C could leave some wrong doctrine out of their mind we could enjoy of a really good A.I.
