Visual Damage Model

Have any details been outlined for the production of the visual damage model?

I can see already in game the actual damage seems to be modelled very well meaning if you manage to strike the right place you can down the aircraft rather quickly, but I havent seen the viusual damage resemble the actual damage very much. Is that because the current visual damage is in a early state and will be added to with more detail and visually damageable areas etc?

Correct. Game is only 35% complete, so much more to come :)

I know it gets said a lot, but look to RoF for what it might look like.  You can see the position correct damage in that game, one can only hope that it transfers to the new title, if anything it proves that the debs  know how to do it.

yeah i was hoping it would be on the same level as RoF, although I do hope though that the cockpit area has damage too, the only thing that bugged me about RoF was that undamageable area, you could plummet hundreds of miles an hour into the floor and the whole plane be destroyed apart from this pristine cockpit area lol

Fingers crossed!

Does any sim have true damage for the cockpit area, I mean holes you can see through in the fuselage rather than just cracked plexiglass and instruments?

If you were to model the 'potential' view after damage to the cockpit then it would suck resources better suited to displaying what you can see through the windows. Anyways, if you have holes/damage in the cockpit walls then odds on you're perforated as well... ;)

I would be surprised to see a noticably more detailed visual damage model than the one we have right now.
