Controller Setup Suggestion/Request

I know you guys currently have your hands full with what you have to work on coming down the pike, but I so wish at some point in the future you would consider adding the following to the controller setup menu for this great sim.

1: Allow a controller button to be assigned as a modifier/shift button. Just having this ability alone would go a long way in us being able to expand the number of commands we can assign to buttons on our sticks and throttles. I find it even more important now that I am flying in VR, and is a feature I am sure many would really appreciate to have. I know in my case I can use the TARGET software to accomplish the same, but I would really prefer to be able to just assign within the game controller setup menu. Just having a modifier button to where if that button is pressed and held a different command could be executed on the corresponding button press assignment would be very beneficial.

2: Individual Plane controller setups. I am sure this would be more complex to accomplish, however as the sim grows and more planes  are added, would be a really nice feature to have to be able to assign controls to each plane individually rather than assigning controls globally.

I have used the TARGET software in the past with good results, but have found I now much prefer getting away from that and just using the in game GUI for my controller setups.

Whilst I would love it if at some point both of these suggestions could be implemented, #1 would certainly by itself go a long way in our ability to set up our controls for our sticks.

Thanks for any consideration,

Salutations,

In relation to #2.

Yes, individual plane controller setups would be great... especially if we were able to select them 'from within the game'. Otherwise, it would be very inconvienent to exit out, load the desired input profile and restart the game, as it is now.

Sorry for slight necro.

Just an +1 for me on #2.

I consider the import/export control assignments and the individual aircraft response curves to be an great feature in Rise of Flight.

You can use OvGME or JsGME for that - not as convenient as having it in game as an option (you'll have to restart the game) but its something over nothing for now.

Another vote for point 2; and I'll add the suggestion that the Il2 CoD approach be adopted for toggled controls, where one can map switches to the toggle as well as individually to its on/off components.

CoD has its problems but control-wise it's pretty much spot on.

Why not just use Joy2Key in the meantime and set the modifier to the button you want?

Because there's no way to tell the current state of an aircraft component, and so the script can't know whether or not to trigger an action.

For example, suppose I wanted to have separate extend- and retract-airbrake switches. The extend command would logically be be something like:

If airbrake retracted then toggle state; else do nothing.

... and vice versa for the retract.

If I can't perform the state check, I can't implement the new command.

Not sure if that reply is to me RM but I was talking abut simply using J2K to implement a simple dumb modifier key to a button in order in crease the number of duel function actions on a stick or throttle.

I do get what you are saying about the toggles though although the in-cockpit levers, dials and switches should, in most cases show you their state since (I think) all are animated although I do understand it wouldn't solve your issue in terms of switch state on your controllers.

I assume you could get around this with a THIRD toggle key to align the item as you wished but that's not the point I guess.
