ICDP Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) I'm very proud to present my latest 4k template pack. Spitfire Mk Vb (Battle of Kuban) template, generic skins and 4k Normalmap are ready for download. NOTE: My template and the resulting skins and normalmap are NOT 100% compatible with the default 2k skins and normal map. I have specifically used the more common wheel type as associated with the Spitfire. I have also angle the rivets and panel lines on the leading edges of the wings to be approx 90 degrees form the wing angle, rather than to the ground. 3x Generic skins and 4x historic skins RAF Early RAF 1942 USAAC 1942 RAF 1942 N821 VVS Kuban 1943 (Soviet Green) VVS Kuban BM185 USAAC 1943 BM181 (AXD) 4k Template link (including alpha layer template) http://www.mediafire.com/file/wl6dfl1vq6kuv1s/Spitfire_MkVb_4k_Template.zip Skins link http://www.mediafire.com/file/73w7kzvk58a530z/SpitfireMkVb_4k_Skinpack.zip Unzip the contents of this .zip file to: \IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins\SpitfireMkVb 4k Normalmap link http://www.mediafire.com/file/z9n9byo46dhe33r/SpitfireMkVb_4k_Normalmap.zip Unzip the contents of this .zip file to: \IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\Planes\SpitfireMkVb\Textures Your original file will be overwritten but a folder will be created with the contents of the original normalmap file. If you wish to fly the Spitfire Mk Vb (among other AC) and use these skins please purchase Battle of Kuban here. https://il2sturmovik.com/store/battle-of-kuban/ Hand painted effect invasion Stripes layers. There are four layers, D-Day full stripes and post invasion underside only stripes and both types have a faded/worn option. Just drag these layers into your marking folder on the main template. http://www.mediafire.com/file/sbcieu699cowzr7/Spitfire_Vb_Invasion_Stripes_-_IL-2_BOK.zip Attached Thumbnails Edited August 10, 2017 by ICDP 1 2 41

If all you need are some 4k skins then just get the skinpack and normalmap .zip files. Edited July 6, 2017 by ICDP
keeno Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Just had to have another good long look, stunning work!
DetCord12B Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Stellar work as always mate. Quick question though; where did you pull your RAF colors from?
ICDP Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Thank you for the kind comments everyone. Stellar work as always mate. Quick question though; where did you pull your RAF colors from? I made that layers years ago for my own template work in FSX. I am almost 100% certain it is from here and they have colour charts for pretty much all major air-forces from WWII there. http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts.asp What I always find amazing is the heated debates some people have over how accurate colours are. Honestly IMHO close is close enough considering the sometimes very different variations claimed even on these colour charts. Edited July 6, 2017 by ICDP

Every color chart I came across was different, to include three official RAF ones... It's just ridiculous. Anyway, thanks again for the splendid work and here's yet another one for ya.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 salute thank you sir, I was really hoping you would of released these when we where testing.

Totally agree, especially given variations from different manufacturers, bleaching effect of exposure etc: although I recall debates over what RFC WW1 doping should look like which were both entertaining and informative. Thank goodness for people with a passion for a subject - or we would not get lovely stuff like this!
616Sqn_Johnny-Red Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I had planned to make a 4k template for the VB when I got the chance... ...then I saw your work, which I had not hoped to have existed. Thank you very much for this template. It's outstanding. Now I can fast-forward to the fun stuff, standing on the shoulders of a giant. JR
Missionbug Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Excellent work ICDP, thank you very much, really appreciated. Wishing you all the very best, Pete.
ICDP Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Hi Deschain. Normalmap is the bumps you see from certain angles. I made the normalmaps (bumps) 4096x4096 rather than the standard 2048x2048. This give them 4x the detail of standard, same as the 4k main texture template. I hope this helps explain it. Though the best way to see them is to install them and compare.
