Bullets Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) The official skins are 2K. ICDP skins are 4K. Jason Yeah however I assume that because you gave ICDP the 2k template already and he has created a 4K one (&Skins) that it will be released along side the Spitfire tomorrow ?? Edit: That cockpit looks phenomenal.. Now all it needs is 4k Textures Edited July 5, 2017 by Bullets
310_cibule Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) It's funny we have public holiday here too. Not celebrating the American Independence though but the arrival of two Greek brothers - Saints Cyril and Methodus from Thessaloniki who later invented and adopted the first Slavonic alphabet and introduced Christianity here in Bohemia A.D.863 Happy birthday, Americans. Thx for the pics, Jason Edited July 5, 2017 by 310_cibule
kestrel79 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Anyone know most of the Spits with US markings fought historically? North Africa? Italy? Also what was the reasoning with the red and yellow outlines around the US Star? That seems to differ from other US paint schemes from the war. Nice skins looks great!
Jason_Williams Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 U.S. squadrons using the Spitfire were primarily in North Africa and Italy if I remember correctly. There is a book I read called Woodbine Red Leader written by a pilot who flew Spitfires and then P-51s in Italy. I'm sure some of you have read it. The markings with the yellow outline were found in North Africa mainly I believe. Again, my memory is fuzzy. The red outline was short lived in 1943. https://www.amazon.com/Woodbine-Red-Leader-Mustang-Mediterranean/dp/089141813X Jason
Finkeren Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 About the markings, have a look here: Basically, the yellow outline on the roundel was used solely for Operation Torch and the immediate aftermath. The red outline was in use for some 3½ months in summer/fall 1943. 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 The red outline was deemed to still be too confusing to Allied flak gunners in the Pacific who shot at anything that had a red marking on it. The RAF/FAA/RAAF and RNZAF progressively used less and less red as well until it was banished altogether.
