Fighters FM in 2.011?

Considering we'll have soon the Spitifre, would be possible have the new FM in advance for the fighters?

...off course if they are ready to be released.

I know, it's a crazy request.

Pretty sure they have already stated they would not be ready until 2.012.

Of course we are assuming though the new Spit that comes with 2.011 will already have it.

Since 2.011 is in beta and has been for weeks now, that's a definite "no".

2.012 is the one to look out for.

The so called "New FM" has to be applied globally, so do not expect just one aircraft to have it, it's an all or nothing kind of thing.

They have already given the roadmap for the next two updates and there is pretty much zero chance that is going to change.

Just let the cake bake.

The spitfire will have 2 FMs.. Same as every plane that's already in the game, when the 2.012 update hits, they'll all switch over to that new FM, and every plane from now will also have it.

So don't expect the spitfire to be released with the new FM, the Devs wouldn't release 1 aircraft different from the others..

Could it be you got intel about the new FM? Now all 109s and 190s are scary about the new Spitfire FM....because they need to fly and fight with their old FM against the new FM, indeed scary..... :P   -> Not for me ->

Actually, while the FM changes might make planes easier to control precisely and a bit more stable in flight, it will also take away some maneuverability, especially on the roll axis now that we can't do those crazy rudder-boosted rolls anymore. The Spit Mk. V shouldn't be that strong a roller in the first place, so the FM changes might no be benificial to it at all.

Remember: The FM changes won't necessarilly make any aircraft "better" as such, some might well become "worse" - it's all about getting closer to an accurate portrayal of historical performance.

I don´t think the Developers have invested time on an old FM with the Spitifre with the new ones around the corner.

I think they will release it with the new FM and the others will follow soon.  There is no need to build 2 Fm,s or making one to edit it in the next weeks.

I may be wrong, but I got the impression that the new FM isn't just new data, but a revised algorithm. And implementing two different FM algorithms in the same application might be asking for trouble. Far simpler to do a complete replacement when it is ready.

This is how I understood it as well. It's something core in the flight model they are changing and that necessitates changes across the board.

I don't think they have to go back and redo the Spitfire FM... just keep two versions for now. I guess all will be revealed soon enough!

That's simply absurd. They've know about the new FM for months, making two FMs for a new plane is ridiculous. Edited by Jade_Monkey

Well, tomorrow is the day, so not much time to reveal who is right

So who takes the bets?

Mk.Vb is not listed in 2.012, so tomorrow (or when we'll get the 2.011) we'll have probably the new FM. I really don't think they have invested resources to release an FM just only for the 2.011 update.

So we got new Spitfire FM today? Is that what all of this means? The other FM are tomorrow?

Re-reading the DEV threads on the FM changes, it implies there is a complete rework. There will be the global change for all aircraft which seems to be a deeper physics calculation. Then there are also tweaks to individual AC. So, it is likely the Spit will be as good as it's gonna get in the short term as the FM is new but then it will be reworked, by default, with all of the other AC when the global FM change is implemented - in 2.012.
