dburne Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 As time moves on, the question of whether VR is a fad or a new technology here to stay, seems to point more and more to the latter. Apple continues to make more investments into the VR realm, and while may not be so relevant to what we do here, can only be a very good thing overall for VR as a whole. https://www.roadtovr.com/apples-job-listings-seek-vr-file-format-engineer-vr-pipeline-engineer/
A_radek Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 That's good news Don. My now 2-year old son had a birthday party this weekend. One of the adult guests took a peak inside the office/mancave and spotted the occulus headset. He has an active private pilot certificate so I let him have a go at il2. Next thing I know I'm demoing the Rift for 12 grownup guests. All got to experience the dreamdeck demo. Reactions were hilarious and at least one now wants to get the playstation headset. While they all had already heard of VR and figured it would be a cool thing, none was prepared for what it actually is. And I think that in conjunction with the cost involved is the thing slowing VR sales. Most haven't tried it and so they figure it's like duct-taping an ipad to your face. Not very easy conveying the feeling of immersion as a commercial on tv or a game trailer on the web.
