Boaty-McBoatface Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Hi gents, definitely didn't have this issue before. The game is becoming unplayable for me with these 2 to 3 second freezes/stutters. What's puzzling me is that it never used to be like this. I get a constant 60fps but yet the game just keeps stopping like this. Has anyone experienced this kind of issue and fixed it? I've talked with a few people and it seems everyone gets the usual freezes when looking around after just spawning in. That's fine, I've always remembered those. However what I'm talking about here is all the time when flying. Big freezes/stutters. I have tried another graphics driver to no avail. Specs are: i3 6100 Radeon Rx460 4gb Ram windows 10] Appreciate any suggestions. Edited July 3, 2017 by temujin
Hoss Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I was getting them online last night when ever I got near my home field............. drove me nuts trying to take off or land, as soon as I got away from the airfield they went away. Last night was the first time I experienced them. Cheers Hoss
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 You dont have enough Vram ..In order to run Distant Terrain x 4 you must have atleast 4GB vram or somethingotherwise you will get stutters when it tries to uses system ram when V ram runs out.

Well, thank you kind sir, that instantly fixed it. Put distant terrain at 'normal'. just a shame the game doesn't look as good now. Edited July 3, 2017 by temujin
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 More RAM and more VRAM can make a big difference in how this game looks and performs. More than most!

BubiHUN Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I experienced huge random fps drops since the last update. Sometimes i ram some opponents because i cant even see whats happening. I had no issue like this since i bought the game(bought it in November)

I had no issue like this since i bought the game(bought it in November) From https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12826-game-updates/?p=470291, Han wrote It's recommended to have 4Gb VRAM or more for the х4 option, 3Gb for х3 and 2Gb for х2 detail. This decrease in performance on older GPUs is expected, it's not a bug or a regression, merely a consequence of ongoing development and newly added features (mirror tech, in this case).

He said because of the mirrors means for me if you fly with Mirrors, distant landscape detail option becomes more demanding!!! Without Mirrors distant landscape detail option is less demanding like it was before the mirrors update.

coconut Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) @Livai That's one interpretation, but not the only one. The mirror tech implementation is there whether you use it or not and affects performance is another interpretation. Edited July 3, 2017 by coconut
LLv24_SukkaVR Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Stuttering and sudden fps loss can be temperature related too. Couple years ago i started having really bad fps issues and then i noticed my CPU temperature was 90-99c while playing, and reason for that was broken CPU cooler.

No601_Prangster Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Sorry but your i3 CPU doesn't meet the minimum spec for the game. The i3 is a dual processor CPU and BoX requires a quad core.

Fast single thread performance is still the most effective right now. definitely not a CPU problem here. Edited July 5, 2017 by temujin

Yes the game is very very well optimized for Quad Core performance .. On my FX8350 @ 4.4Ghz it uses 15-25% EVENLY over 4 Cores Constantly Here is a screen cap i just took while starting up plane on server. Cpu only on 4.3Ghz and Low Vcore as im lazy and need to clean radiator as you can see by the high temps (34*C was only loading the game) The games real CPU Requirements (IN MULTIPLAYER - as all hits/damage calculation take place on YOUR cpu not server) Minimum 3Ghz Quadcore intel or 3.5Ghz Quadcore AMD. Recommended is 4-4.5Ghz Quadcore intel or 4.5-4.8 Ghz Quadcore AMD.. I think mate you are confusing Dserver.exe for server hosting. That only uses 1 core and only need a single or dual core cpu. but the game DEFO needs a Quad Core. Edited July 6, 2017 by =TBAS=Sshadow14
