drew03tx Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Hey guys, i tried to boot up the game for the first time in while in VR mode. I make sure the headset and wands are all registering in the steam VR window. When i try to launch the game it show to be loading in the headset then i just stops, i remove my headset and it no longer indicated IL2 is running. I loaded the game without VR just fine to make sure it wasnt the game itself. My other VR games like onward work just fine, but IL2 just will not load for some reason. can anyone help me out?
Herne Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 for me I launch from steam with a rift CV1.If you also have a rift the first thing to do is to let oculus use third party apps. Its not on by default. which i think is in oculus home settings somewhere. My BoX is installed through steam, so I also need steams open VR. Finally to launch the game i just right click on the game in my library and select launch in vr in steam vr mode.and thats pretty much it
drew03tx Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 forgot to mention this is on the HTC Vive, sorry
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Are you running that SteamVR Home? I had to disable that when it first entered beta to get IL2 to start. I haven't tried it again since? Worth a try maybe.
drew03tx Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 yea it was trying, turns out Reshade was screwing me, uninstalled the files and it works!

MarMata Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 (edited) For me, IL2 sometimes only want to start in VR only if steamVR is not loaded yet, other times it is the other way around, and sometimes neither way. And when it does not start, it makes my mouse pointer disappear too. Im not using any mods, nothing like reshade, etc. Im on Pico4. Edited May 9, 2024 by MarMata

I recently the had this problem of the mouse pointer disappearing on VR launch, requiring me to sign out of Win10 and log back in again. Based on an internet search for similar issues I looked at properties for my BoX desktop shortcut. Under the "Compatibility" tab I disabled "fullscreen optimizations" and the VR launch problem went away. Edited May 9, 2024 by Dagwoodyt

Some times when ever I get into il2 vr not after starting my PC but after say 30 min delay, for example I start my PC, I open up reverb g2 and watch some YouTube videos for say 30 min or 60min then trying to start il2 in vr mode it does nothing then I had to restart PC and get into il2 vr mode immediately in order to load il2 in vr mode. I will do what you propose to see if it will solve the problem. Thanks!
