"Hand Built in Britain", that just brings to mind Words like "Quality", "Rustproof", "Reliability", "Impeccable Work Ethic", "Exact Panel Fitment"

So you take Pride in an Engine Life of 24 hours or less? Well, if the Cars rust away before that, so be it.

Nice Hagar !!

I believe this may demonstrate the psychological, emotional and resulting physical effects of anticipation of such a plane among the group here, seeing the release of the Spit is fairly soon.

Good group. I'd always listen to their album "The Race for Space" when I still played E:D a lot.

Was half tempted to try to make a Spitfire trailer with this song... Except copyright laws.  :P

Shouldn't pose a problem. These days you can post YouTube videos with copyrighted music so long as the music licensees have allowed it on YouTube. They get ad money from the videos that play before your video for compensation.

Unlike transmissions of German cars that blow out or the loving tractor nature of Mercs ;)  :P

Also, new British motorcycles don't leave a trail of oil behind them like the old ones making it harder for police to follow them.  Just like Ducatti engines can go beyond 2000kms before needing a service but alas, Aprillia RSV V4 engines still only have a paltry life span of less than 35k kms.  They expect most owners to prefer looking at their bikes at the local cafe rather than riding them.

All good and each country makes some nice machines.

Thanks Hagar   ;)

Huh? Never heard about German Trannies being in any way Scandalous. Maybe I'm too young. And I challenge you to Find another Manufacturer whose Diesels will Run 160+kph all Day for Years on End (200+ for OM617TD and OM602TDs), put Hundreds of Thousands of Kilometres on it, run it to a Million, Rebuild the Engine and Run a Second and consume less than 10l/100km in doing so.

And these Mercs have such an astonishing Smoothness running at Autobahn Speeds that can never be matched by Petrol Cars.

And I will not take any of the VW Diesel Scandal Rubbish. The TDI is a great engine Family, and I don't care about the American Emission Standards a bit. IRL before the Update these Engines were low on Fuel Consumption and Great on Power. And their CO2 Emissions now higher than before the Software Updates. Now they traded Efficiency and Climate Friendliness for NOx.

The Engines were simply tuned to run well and be good for the Owners Pocket.

I am the Proud owner of a BMW R65 myself, 27hp, but runs 150kph at 6000RPM and it has never Failed us, except for the times it has, which still were few in number.

My Car was carelessly thrown together by some Drunk Spaniards, but at least they tightened the Screws properly, and the Engine is a Hack, but also the Engine of the Year of the 1.0-1.4 Category in 2005. I bet they didn't even lift the Hood to check, but I suffer for it.

And my 3rd Motorvehicle is as Italian as it gets, a trashy old Piaggio Ape 25 from 2004.

And my Dream is a Fiat Fiorino 5 Seater Diesel Pre-2000.

Klaus, the gearbox issues was more to do with the auto clutch on the Volkswagen Group direct shift boxes requiring a worldwide recall.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2507401/Volkswagen-recall-cars-worldwide-faulty-gearbox-light-fuses.html

The affected Skoda and Audi as well.  As for the emissions scandal, we all know this is Cali BS where US clunkers can pollute like no tomorrow but any foreign car which is efficient does a little, they are crucified.

My Citroen C4 likes your Autobahns too but more sub 200kph all day running.  I like them too and wish Finland had one running from Oulu via Jyväskylä to Helsinki.  It's a Petrol 2 liter engine though, seems to like throwing up fault codes when going slow in a parking lot LOL.

As for my ride, enjoying my ZX10R gen 4.  A worthy response by Kawasaki to BMW's S 1000RR, power and handling which I take to the track and have a ball with.  Poms making a good go of it with the Triumph Daytona 675 and be interesting to see their engines in use in Moto 2 next year.  Norton is also making a nice race bike but not sure when they will see production.  As for 4 wheels, I can dream about an Austin Martin as much as a Porsche, AMG Merc or a BMW M5 ))

Which to my mind brings up the Question "Why the Hell are there Electrics in your Gearbox to begin with?"

Well, I replace my Gearbox Oil every 100k, despite the Manufacturer claiming a "Lifetime" Filling. However, Opel estimates 150k Lifetime so I can only recommend nobody believe their Manufacturer and just do Regular Oil Changes to your Gearbox as well.

And concerning the Mineral v Synthetic thing, I switched to Synthetic a long time Ago and I ain't lookin back. Castrol offers amazing Oils. Trying 5W40 Magnatec right now and it just transforms the Engine. It has some components to clean my DPF and ot just Revs and Pulls much better.

Cheers, Hagar! I'm now wearing a perma-smile!

(I know it"s all subjective and so on and so on, but I remember when the Spit V was introduced to FB - trying it out in QMB felt just joyful and exhilarating. First bridge I saw:  I'm having that! An hour or so just flying under bridges. First time online - squadron-mates watching each other go inverted under bridges (MATRON!) (or trying to) for the next hour! Come on Klaus and anyone else who's strangely grumpy! - Flight sims are about fun!)
